A Better Way to Measure MS Progression The Buffalo Neuroimaging Analysis Center (BNAC) is a world-class center for MS research. As with all academic research, however, it can be difficult for patients to read and understand their published reports.  I’m on the Patient Advisory Council for BNAC, and we have embarked on an effort to make academic research more accessible to patients. We convert complicated medical research jargon into plain English. Here is a link to our first effort: click here for our plain talk summary called: A Better Way to Measure MS Progression Additionall ..read more

Thoughts on Inspiration I don’t want to be an inspiration. I only want to inspire. If you exhibit visible MS symptoms then someone, somewhere, sometime may have called you an “inspiration.” I’ve been called worse, but I still don’t like it… To read my full blog post at MultipleSclerosis.net, click here. get the latest blog posts emailed to you directly Email address: Leave this field empty if you're human: Search for: Search Recent Posts Thoughts on Inspiration Forgive Me My Absence It’s Giving Tuesday Clinical Trial Opportunity CASA-MS: Something for Those of Us With a Lot of ..read more

Clinical Trial Opportunity I love what they are doing at the University of Pittsburgh Department of Rehabilitation Science and Technology. These folks are investigating the use of smart home technology as assistive technology, just like I’m doing informally in my home. If you have a physical disability, and are interested in helping them develop an assessment tool, please consider participating in this clinical trial, which can be done from your home. I’ve done it, and I felt good after! They are even sending me a small stipend. Read the flyer below, and if you are interested please co ..read more

CASA-MS: Something for Those of Us With a Lot of MS I would never say that someone has only a little multiple sclerosis. It’s a horrible disease in all its manifestations. But I’m quite comfortable in saying that a few of us have a whole lot of MS. The most severe types of MS have not been thoroughly studied because they occur less often, and they have proven more difficult to understand. That’s frustrating, but it’s beginning to change. The Study CASA-MS, which stands for Comprehensive Assessment of Severely Affected Multiple Sclerosis, will help unravel the mysteries of severe MS. The ..read more

3i Home – We are Interviewed About Accessible Housing My passion these days, and the primary reason I have been neglecting my blog of late, is accessible housing and 3i Housing of Maine. We have reached agreement on a site in Greater Portland and expect to break ground in the fall of this year on our pilot project. Announcements are forthcoming. In the meantime, the founder and president of 3i Home, Paul Linet, and I sat down for an interview with accessiBe, a wonderful company dedicated to making websites accessible for everyone. Check it out. get the latest blog posts emailed to yo ..read more
