Gingham Shorts for Summer
A Preppy Brunette

It’s technically spring, but the Midwest still hasn’t got the memo. It snowed here over the weekend making coming back from spring break even more depressing. Over the break, I found my new favorite shorts for the summer, and they’re from Target! These gingham shorts are long enough so you don’t have to worry about bending over or pulling them down constantly. For someone who has long legs, these fit perfectly. They tie in the waist making them customizable for any body type. I know I’ll be wearing them constantly once the weather warms up. The gingham print is not only trendy but fits the pre ..read more

What I Wore for Sorority Recruitment! What Sorority I was Accepted Into!!

The one thing I was most excited for about college was going through sorority recruitment. I come from a Greek family, and it was an obvious choice to follow in my family’s footsteps. I personally enjoyed recruitment. Yes, it was a long process, but I got to meet so many new girls and I loved getting to tour all the sorority houses! I felt like I was on HGTV’s House Hunters. Over the summer, the Panhellenic Council gave all the girls who signed up for recruitment details for choosing rush outfits. At my school there are four rounds: Open House, First Invite, Second Invite, and Preference. With ..read more

Dorm Rooms: Girls vs. Guys
A Preppy Brunette

It’s funny how different girls and boys dorm rooms are. Girls spend all summer planning their rooms: coordinating with their roommate, choosing a color scheme, matching bedding, wall art, the works. While boys, well, their moms pretty much buy it all. This year, my family moved my brother into his dorm at Ole Miss. And boy it was insane! The southern belles brought in custom furniture, bed skirts, headboard. The boys, however, brought a couple bags of clothes and their TVs. I think it took us maybe 2 hours to set his room up, while the girls down the hall took the whole day. I have to say tho ..read more

DIY Dorm Gallery Wall

Dorm rooms can be cold and depressing. The beige cinderblock is about as unwelcoming as you can get. And this little shoebox room is yours for the next eight months, so you have to make the most of the space you have. The idea of having a gallery wall in my dorm came to me while scrolling through Pinterest. I knew I wanted color and photos of my friends and family included, and was inspired. I started at the dollar store, as any broke college student would. I bought 10 cheap frames of all sizes, then stopped at Hobby Lobby for a can of light pink spray paint. I recommend printing out your pho ..read more

My Haircare Routine / How I Grew My Hair Long
A Preppy Brunette

My long hair is a part of who I am. Every time I’ve cut it “short,” I pretty much regret it a week later. Recently, I decided to add in some blonder highlights to my hair. But length is something I will not compromise on. Taking good care of my hair is something I pride myself on. And I wanted to share my tips and tricks with you on how I keep my hair healthy, long, and damage free. Obviously the most important part of healthy hair is your diet. Getting enough fruits and vegetables (which I am not good at) is the foundation of strong hair. Stronger hair = less breakage. High end shampoo and ..read more

Lilly Pulitzer Agenda Review
A Preppy Brunette

I count down the days until August 1. It’s the day I’m finally able to break open my new Lilly Pulitzer agenda. This will be my fourth year of using a Lilly agenda and I can’t imagine using any other planner. My Lilly Pulitzer planners from the past four years! The worst part of this agenda has to be choosing a pattern. I absolutely adore the “Beach and Bae” and “Flamenco” prints that were exclusive to the jumbo size planner. I just couldn’t commit to a planner that was the size of a three-ring binder. The print I ended up choosing this year is “Gypsea.” It is a bright pink floral with pops of ..read more
