And the 3% goes to…

German and English version. By now probably everyone has realized that there is a pandemic going on- which affects all of us. And you also may have realized that the German parliament has decided to lower the taxes from 19% to 16%  until the end of 2020 – which affects us as a brand, too. Small adventure down economics lane: These 19% (or now 16%) are transitory, which means that JAN ‘N JUNE isn’t keeping that money but has to pass it on to the tax office. It therefore doesn’t make a difference for us whether that’s 19 or 16 % – but it does slightly affect the price of a product for you ..read more

German and English version. As we promised in the last post, today is all about organic cotton! How is it different from conventional cotton? What boxes does organic cotton need to tick to be labelled organic?   What is cotton? Can you see that cute plant on the picture above? That is the ready-to-harvest cotton plant – it has once been a seed, a bud and a blossom. The white fluff is removed from the plant and the seed inside is taken out, then the fluff is spun into thread and afterwards woven into fabric. Cotton is a a natural fibre and therefore does not contribute to plastic poll ..read more

German version only.

English and German version. Dear face-mask. How do I wear you properly? Is there a zero waste face mask version of you? How do I care for you? I’m in desperate need of answers. We all have to wear them, more or less often depending on where you live- but do we even know how we’re doing it right? Maybe you do, but I certainly didn’t. “You only have to wear them in the stores, right?” “Let’s remove it as soon as we’re outside, breathe a little.” “Touch it with our hands that touched a million things while we were shopping for wine and cookies.” Let me break the news: That’s not the way these mas ..read more

German and English version. Fabric Friday – Tencel/ Lyocell

German and English version.   Let’s start our journey through the sustainable fabric world. Have you ever wondered why we use the materials we use, how they are made and what makes them sustainable? Your time has come. Tencel? Lyocell? Is that the same thing? Nearly. Lyocell is a fiber that is made from wood and has been successfully used for about 25 years. The wood that is used is either birch or eucalyptus and is grown in Asia. The ground cannot be used for food crops, so the argument “food over fashion” doesn’t have ground here. Eucalyptus doesn’t need any chemical pesticides and no e ..read more
