I have my degree and licensure for early childhood special education for birth through kindergarten. I am looking at programs for my masters in special education. I wanted to additional licensure to teach higher grades. Many programs offer mild interventions, intense interventions or both. Is there a difference job wise to having one or the other? Or does it look better to have both? What are your experiences?

I am 30 and attended the Gifford school in Weston, MA when I was 11 in their elementary building. Please be kind. This is very hard for me to share. I just want the truth out.
I was repeatedly raped in the time out rooms by a staff named Will.
I was the only girl in the elementary building during this time and it made me a sitting duck for predators that worked there.
They had a point system that was supposed to teach students how to be graceful and polite. If you did something wrong you lost points and the more points that you lose the more freedoms that you lose.

I am about to loose my mind. Im a sub-separate teacher so my class is a mix of amazing kids. I have a few students taking the regular state assessment . I had no say in the groupings. So I have one student who literally has tantrums when they hears the name of the state assessment. I have another student who triggers that student not on purpose but still occurs. They decided to put them plus two others from my class in the same group in a small room with me. That first student has literally bolted out of my room when I started to mock test questions as we know I can’t just leave the other kid ..read more

Looking for some ideas to get a GCSE English language and literature student more comfortable with creative writing!
He finds it difficult to think creatively and come up with ideas and get them on the page. I’m trying a few different things but it’s early days, so… Any suggestions on how to get him thinking and writing? He just needs to get his word count up and his creativity needs to come along.
Please note: I have plenty experience of working with SEN, just looking for new ideas and creative ways to tackle these concerns!

Hi! I’m currently in year 3 of my sped job and I’m burnt out! I work with kids with significant needs and who are medically impacted. I’m sick of the lack of support in every way and the politics. What are some good alternatives to teaching and/or some good online teaching options?

Hi! I’m in NJ and an English teacher. I’m currently in school also (part-time, mostly online) to earn my TOSD endorsement.
Would any school hire me while I’m still earning this endorsement, but it’s not yet completed? All jobs I see ask that it’s already completed/valid. However, I have seen evidence of a teacher shortage, so maybe there will be some slack?
I really love the special education environment and students. I think it’s a better fit for more individualized education rather than where I was with gen ed (just my personal experience).

Hello!
I am a special education teacher and former special education student. I am now moving into research and advocacy for this population and want to hear from those who are in or were in the special education system.
I have spoken with several people (adults and children) who shared that their special education experience was negative. I am trying to advocate within my professional circle for changes to better support students emotionally and want to hear about your experience, what worked, and what didn’t.
Personally, I experienced a negative impact on my self-esteem due to my special ed ..read more

Hello, I'm a mom of two boys with reading difficulties and I've made an app for reading comprehension specifically for kids who have difficulty with reading comprehension.
https://youtu.be/SKph-3IUuwc
I use it every day with my younger son who has fallen behind in subject mastery because of his reading difficulties.
Let me know what you think. It uses AI to create custom content by grade level and interest. I've made a demo of paid features on this video. I'd love feedback so I can continue to improve the product.
Available now in App Store: https://apps.apple.com/us/app/comprehend-reading/id ..read more
