Written by: Madison Hasley, Class of ‘25 DPT Student 2nd year Pelvic Health SIG co-chairs, Madison Hasley (left) and Maddie Hargis (right) What inspired you to start this SIG? I was inspired to help start this SIG because I saw a gap in our special interest groups. This is an area that is growing in our practice and I believe that students should have the opportunity to explore the area of pelvic health beyond what we learn in our curriculum. How have you seen the culture around pelvic health adapt over recent years? There has been a large shift in recent years for this area of practice. I thi ..read more

Written by: Kayla Neumann, Class of ‘25 DPT Student I was placed in Mammoth Lakes, CA at the Mammoth Hospital Physical Therapy clinic. It is a rural outpatient clinic serving the small mountain town (pop ~7,000) and the neighboring towns in the Eastern Sierra. The community is very active and had just had a record-breaking snow year, so I saw many ski and snowboard injuries that even just happened in August! Along with winter sports, the town is full of trail runners, mountain bikers, climbers, hikers… you name it. Almost every patient had some outdoor hobby they were eager to get back to. Th ..read more

Written by: Keith McDonough, Class of ‘25 Secretary “Where are you from?” That’s a question you’ve been asked your whole life, and a question that you’ll always be asked. Typically, it’s pretty easy to explain. But what if you’re older, or you’ve moved a lot, or both? This question can become a bit more complicated. “Oh, I grew up here, but went to school here, did my undergrad here…” It almost sounds like you’re making an excuse for your life’s journey. We are all unique when it comes to our backgrounds, and our upbringing is what shaped us. The most important p ..read more

Written by: John Lighthart, Class of ‘25 DPT student The greatest demand on students in the Regis Doctor of Physical Therapy program is probably the substantial time commitment required for study and review of class materials. Students tend to find their own strategies for studying in their free time, whether it be in Peter Claver Hall classrooms, labs, or in the convenience of their own home. For many, the preferable option has been to visit one of the Denver area’s multitude of unique coffee shops. The cozy aromas, relaxing music and open spots provided by coffee shops are the ideal way for ..read more
