Etherwood is launching his own label, Stillness Music. After 10 years at Med School and Hospital Records, he thought it was time for something new. Drawing from his third album, In Stillness, Etherwood was inspired by nature, meditation, and mental health. He hopes to bring this same ethos of peace to his new label. “The idea behind Stillness Music is a focus on the more chilled and serene side of drum and bass, creating a space to find calmness and stillness among the chaos of everyday life,” he explains.  With the first single announced, it’s safe to say Etherwood is staying true to the ..read more

1991’s career has accelerated since we last spoke with him two years ago, when he had just released his debut album, ‘Odyssey’. Anno 2024, he has been touring with fellow WORSHIP artists Sub Focus, Dimension, and Culture Shock, and recently signed a record deal with major label Polydor. This resulted in exciting releases like ‘Worlds Apart’ and ‘Horizon’. The record deal gives him the freedom to explore new sounds and tap into different inspirations.  “I might hear a rock song and start to wonder what that would sound like if it was drum & bass. I like to take that musicality and put ..read more

No Lack of Substance on Channell’s first TNQ EP

At 25 years young, Alfie Channell brings style and prowess beyond the number. He gets it from a variety of sources, both externally influenced, and from the heart.  His mother and father’s eclectic tastes had him hooked at an early age. Growing up in South London between two households, each of his parents indulged him in everything from soulful 4-4 to indie-rock. On top of being surrounded by tasteful rhythms, he’s inherited a natural feel for them too – picking up the bass in his young teens and playing licks without any lessons. That funk and melody you hear in his productions today co ..read more

Photo Credit- Khali Ackford ‘We live in a world where urgency culture can be so toxic. I hope that my journey inspires other artists to take their time.’ – Spectral Nowadays, you are an anomaly if you are taking your time. Drop culture, quick-hit videos on the gram and a saturated market have driven artists and labels to release more frequently than ever before. The fear of being drowned out is rife, and if you’re not releasing every few months (at least), there’s a risk you’ll be left behind… or so they say. Spectral, however, sees things quite differently. Three years after her stint as one ..read more
