The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) has announced that the 2023 EEO-1 Component 1 data collection will open April 30. The deadline to file the report is June 4, 2024. The EEO-1 Component 1 report is a mandatory filing for private employers with 100 or more employees, and federal contractors and subcontractors that meet certain criteria and have 50 or more employees. Whistleblowing occurs when an employee reports wrongdoing (dangerous, illegal, or unethical activity or practices by the company or its employees) either directly to the employer or to an outside authority. Ordinarily, you should assume that an employee’s request for a religious accommodation is based on a sincerely held religious belief, observance, or practice. The definition of religion is broad and protects beliefs, observances, and practices you may not be familiar with.
