Prenzlauer Berg- AV.Restaurant, new fine diner is knocked up over in Prenzlberg. The deal with the new joint is still somewhat under wraps, but there distinct fine dining leanings with dashes of local emphases thrown in. The owners are the same crew that put up a popper last year over at Outgrow Cafe titled Fat Pig. The popper was a success and there are already some of the foodie class keeping track of developments. Mitte- Mogg, the popular and now nearly legendary Mitte based pastrami sandwich vendor has reopened the shop after a little more than a month hiatus. They had shut down last month after a year of hard work delivering their goods through their Corona window. Berlin diners are certainly happy to see them return. There were fears that the closure may be for good. Thankfully, however they have returned and we can take it as a hopeful sign that Berlin gastro is here to stay. Kreuzberg- Capperi  Natural Italian Kitchen joint that opened up about three years back over in Kreuzberg has thrown in the towel. Besides the Natural Italian stylings they sported a strong focus on Craft Wines. They put out a statement a couple of weeks back letting their following know that the reason for closure is a combination of personal reasons, other projects and obviously the impact of Covid 19. Mitte- Aera Bread, two year old Char-burg baker is knocked up on a new shop over in Mitte. The new gluten free focused baker is under wraps on a new location off of Rosenthaler Platz. The original shop has won a loyal following with their high end gluten free game and the glutinos based in Mitte are anxious to get the goods. They have been in the thick of construction for the last four months since signing the contract, so Mr. Eatler anticipates an opening some time before the summer is in. Mitte- Lovebirds Pizza, new pizza shop is under wraps on a new shop just off of Rosenthaler Platz. The tagline of the new endeavour is listed as Contemporary Pizza, so remains to be seen whether it will be in more of the Neapolitan branch or more of something all on its own. The address is the former home of Riva, a higher end fish joint that shut down a few years back and subsequently a short lived Asian Fusion shop that shut down during the lockdowns. Friedrichshain- Santa Cantina, the much beloved taco restaurant and beer hall down on Simon Dach has sadly fallen victim to Corona. The shop had a loyal following for the few years that it was in the game but unfortunately was seemingly unable to weather the storm. They shut their doors about a month back closing the chapter on one of the best and most down to earth taco operations in town. Mr. Eatler was heartbroken to hear of the news, but the owners of the shop are intrepid and there is no doubt we will see them continuing their gastronomic ventures in town. Prenzlauer Berg- Mamida Berlin, new sourdough pizza shop opened up their doors about a month ago over in Prenz. Mitte- W Pizza, the popular pizza shop that opened up a location about two years back over in Neukölln is knocked up on a new storefront in Mitte. The new spot is a large corner location over on Chaussee and Invaliden. The address was a litigated property for many years, as the former tenant, Marc Ann’s, had been going back and forth through the courts with the landlords. Mitte- Magic John’s, the New York slice Corona lockdown winner, that opened up shop during the first lockdown last year, was spotted doing some demo on a shop next door. They have developed a cult following for their pizza game which focuses on New York slices, but has recently developed a strong Detroit game as well. @sofithebakery Mitte- Sofi, new bakery opened up a couple of weeks back over in Mitte. The deal with the joint is they are a boutique style bakery that has had a run of popups and collabs with popular kids like of Lode & Stijn, Otto and the newly opened fine diner Remi.
