I haven’t written much for this space lately. The last few years, most of my inspiration and creative energy has gone in another direction. This is something I wrote for a relative and his immediate family during his last days. I read it to him and his family in the hospital, not long before his human self passed away. Over the years I have encountered many people outside my practice, who were in need of spiritual guidance or a message from their loved ones who have passed on. Terms like “finding yourself” and “spiritual awakening” have become more prevalent throughout our society. Unfortunately, they have also become more misunderstood. Awakening is not about finding yourself by looking outward. You can only find yourself by looking inward. Your true self is what your soul brought with you to this lifetime. The title of this writing is part of a phrase I heard a few years ago. That phrase and the situation surrounding it’s use, will stick with me the rest of my life. I was in a hospital room, giving my support to a critically ill patient. The nature of that illness was a result of alcohol and drug abuse. This person was near and dear to my heart and emerging from a near-death experience in the ICU. As part of my healing journey, I have been pushed by spirit toward my metaphysical abilities. At first I thought the plan was for me to be a psychic medium. Each of us are born with one thing. Love. Love of all, including self. It is the essence of who we are. Pure, loving energy that is part of the universal energy. Love cannot be taken away and it follows us through every physical lifetime. Love is light. Every other feeling and emotion that detract from love are part of the human experience.
