Dear My Orphans Supporters, We would like to thank you for all of your support toward orphan causes over the years. Thanks to the generous contributions from donors like you, we’ve been able to provide assistance in tending to the very basic necessities of the increasing number of orphaned children, specifically in war-torn and poverty-stricken nations. Over the years, we have seen that there are many other orphans charities that have emerged, several of which are part of much larger global efforts and have a farther reach than we do. Therefore, My Orphans will no longer be supporting interna ..read more

Hadi, 15, Muhammad, 13, Muhsin, 12; Zaynab, 5 “My father passed away two years ago from a stroke. He was sick for a long time. He used to have a cell phone accessory stand and made about twelve dollars a day. We used to live in a mud house, but one day it rained really hard and our house fell on us. Now we really don’t have a place to live” Hadi said. “On the days my husband didn’t work, there was no food in the house. Please take a look at my children. They’re all malnourished. They get tired and out of breath from only walking a few steps because I can’t give them any food, so they have ..read more

I can’t really move around without getting tired very quickly. My father saved up some money and bought me a wheelchair. He didn’t pay the full price for it. He financed it.  After that, it was a lot easier for me to get around. It was a lot easier for him to take me to school and bring me back home. “One day, after he dropped me off at school, he went to find work at a house that was being built. He didn’t have a job. He used to help ..read more

Fatema, 16, Kadhim, 13,  Ayat, 5, Zamen, 3 “My father and his brother used to live together in one house. We all lived together, and everything was going well. Two years ago, they got into a big argument about something silly and my uncle was quite upset with my father. It was really bad. One day, they were screaming at each other, and my uncle became furious, grabbed a knife, and stabbed my father until he died. My uncle surrendered to the police right away. He is in jail for the next five years. “Soon after my father’s death, my mother’s family came and took her away from us because they we ..read more

Ahmed, 7, Khitam, 4,  Zaynab, 3 “Our father was an old man. He was very poor. He didn’t have money to buy or rent a house for us. So, he came here (Baghdad), found this land, and built this mud house on it. We don’t know the owners of this land, so they can come at any time and tell us to leave. That’s the scary part. We don’t know where we’d go if that happens. “My father passed away from a stroke less than a year ago. He used to leave home at five o’clock in the morning every day. He used to go to the large landfills and collect empty Coke bottles to sell them back to the soda companies. So ..read more

Haneen, 14, Ayat, 12,  Zahra, 8 “My father used to have a fruit and vegetable stand. That’s how he provided for us. But one day he went to the doctor and found out that he had diabetes. The doctor prescribed him medication so that he could get better. But my father couldn’t afford the medication. So, his condition kept getting worse and worse until he passed away five years ago. “He used to make about twenty dollars a day. And that was enough for us to survive. We have always lived in this mud house. We never needed anything. After my father died, my mother started baking bread and selling i ..read more

Our car started going in reverse and drove into a government building.” “My sisters fell to the floor of the car, my mother hit her head on the windshield and went into a coma, two of my sisters fell unconscious. Fatema, 7, Jood, 7,  Noor, 5, & Zahra, 4 We were on our way to visit another family when a woman came out of her house and started shouting, “Save me! Save my children! I will kiss your hands—just please save me, and save my kids!” We approached her and heard her story. “My husband had an infection in his liver. It’s genetic, I think, because his whole family has it. He used to support me and my four children. Ever since he passed away, things have gotten really tough for us. “Sometimes I feel like killing myself because my kids are about to starve to death, and I can’t do anything to hel ..read more

They kidnapped my father and a few others. The terrorists used to post their attacks on Facebook. They used to show pictures of who they kidnapped and who they killed. Everyone followed their page. A few days after my father had gone missing, we saw his body on their Facebook page. We recognized him from his clothes. That’s how we found out that he was killed,” Teeba said. Unfortunately, the man died at the scene. The deceased man’s family was very angry, and wanted to take revenge. They wanted to kill my father so they could ’break even.’ When my father heard that they were looking for him, he was very scared. He wasn’t scared for himself but was scared for us. So, he decided to quit his job and run away to the city of Baghdad where no one knew him. He left his home and family so ..read more
