hello, a week ago today i had an MPFL reconstruction and knee debridement on my right knee. i was wondering for those that have had this surgery or have any knowledge of recovery for this surgery, how far were you able to bend your knee at a week out? i know i need to be doing bending exercises to help mitigate scar tissue build up, but it hurts so damn much to the point it takes my breath away. i’m able to get it to like a 45-55 degree bend before the excruciating pain starts. but i feel like i should be farther along..the pain is as expected where the MPFL is but also below my kneecap where ..read more

I feel some pain in the Front of my knee when squatting, it's been 6 months since my acl+meniscus repair surgery.

Hello, I'm 34 years old and had my acl+meniscus repaired. I broke them 7 years ago while playing soccer, and I was recommended it to do rehab without surgery. So I did, and was able to hit the gym with no problem for many years. The only downside was that I couldn't play soccer anymore. So last year I had my surgery and was very happy, everything went well. I was recovering fast, did my physical therapy, but at the month 3, I started feeling some pain in the Front of my knee. I could walk normally, but started feeling weak and felt some pain in the front of my knee when walking down and up th ..read more

Burning pain in knee

As of early this week I’ve started getting a weird sudden burning pain in my right knee It feels like it’s on the surface but there’s nothing there. The pain is sudden and only lasts a second but happens randomly throughout the day. It’s enough to make me jolt. It feels like a burning pin prick but it’s extremely painful. Like somethings scratching at my skin. The area is kind of tender if I push hard but it’s not really overly painful if I do push. I’m an active person, I go to the gym 4-5 times a week and do a lot of HIIT classes. I’ve tried to trigger the pain by bending my knee or leaning ..read more

To keep it concise I'm UK 21 M doctors think its LCL tear although one doctor said it may be and/or meniscus . X-ray show no breaks , waiting on MRI results, albeit they are from Greece , NHS has referred me to Knee clinic but the wait time is 1 month just to be seen . I am aware that if surgery is needed the earlier the better but don't want to wait a month to find out I need surgery .Any advice or personal anecdotes from people in terms of recovery , pathway , exercises , how much to use it etc . Any help would be greatly appreciated. PS I'm a brokey uni student if that affects anything at ..read more

Been doing treatment since February. I can walk a lot better without pain tho but still hurts to squat knees and what not with a sharp pain. My ortho acts like I’m fine now bc my range of motion is standard now yet any time weight or pressure is applied on the knee it hurts and even walking today it hurt all day. It probably only hurts walking 30% of the time tho. I go to physical therapy twice a week and my PT mentioned Donny acupuncture to help with the tendonitis. The Ortho lady is a PA and just a bitch lol. How long has your patellar tendonitits lasted?? Hoffas as well? It sucks bc I work ..read more

(18M) Had MPFL reconstruction surgery 2 weeks ago and before then I was doing really well with weight loss and doing cardio. Went from 270 to 230 and was on my way down to 195. Any exercises or forms of cardio that are possible while in a brace. I just don’t want to throw it all away and gain weight back not doing anything. submitted by /u/CaptainHuddle501st [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

MPFL surgery in two weeks

Hi! I’m having MPFL reconstruction and microfracture/OATS for cartilage damage, on May 6th. If OATS is necessary I may not have that done since my surgeon said it’s a lot more invasive, and he thinks the damage is small enough that microfracture will do the trick. My surgeon says I’ll be out of work for 6-12 weeks (I’m a Dog groomer) I also ride horses, and they said I may be able to return to light riding at 12 weeks. Wondering what I’m getting into here, other than a long recovery, and if anyone has any advice to give. I know I’ll be doing a lot of PT though! Thanks! submitted by /u/Hoesty ..read more

This is workers comp. Dozens of times a day, I think "I really wish that my doctor had removed the tear instead of repairing it." My other knee has had two partial meniscectomies so I know what that's like. Physical therapy was just stopped by the PT office because I haven't made enough measurable improvement in the last few months. I don't agree with this decision at all and in my last appointment I pointed out that I HAVE had measurable improvement recently, but I guess it was the wrong kind of improvement. They also said that I can do everything at home, and I said "Except for the stuff th ..read more
