Noob to Squarespace needs help: Do I need to use their website builder to build my website?

I bought a URL via Squarespace. At this point, all I need is a landing page. One page, not more. It can be a simple black page with simple text on it. Do I need to upgrade my Squarespace in order to do that? Do I really have to pay more than 15USD per month only to have that one page? What are my options here? Can I work on a different editor and have that page uploaded to the URL I bought with squarespace? ChatGPT told me that's not possible because Squarespace is a closed system. Should I move the website that I bought to another provider and how would I do that? Currently, all I can displa ..read more

How can there be so drastic differences in pricing between providers?

I was wondering how it could be possible for example for hetzner to let you host a Nextcloud instance + backups and 1TB storage for 5€/M and then the official Owncloud hosting be 15€ per USER for the same storage. Or how can one provider charge 5€ for a 512 mb ram VM with 1 cpu and 20GB while the other does more for less money? Is this a difference in CPU or storage performance? Is this most of the time just startup vs. established provider? Why should I choose a provider that charges me a multiple of others for the same product? submitted by /u/Hellstorme [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Control Panel for Easy WordPress Deployment with Load Balancing

I have a question regarding the current state of control panels that can manage web applications like WordPress behind a load balancer with multiple web servers and database servers. So far, I've come across Jelastic and ClusterCS, which seem to provide such solutions right out of the box. Are there any other options out there, or should I consider using Kubernetes, k3s, etc.? I usually set up the load balancer, web servers, and database servers manually, but I'm looking for a more convenient option now. Ploi seems to offer almost what I need, but it lacks support for file systems like Gluste ..read more

Cart issues/abandoned carts due to resource allocation issues?

I am using hosting(er) and having abandoned cart issues I believe are due to maxed out hosting on and limited resource allocation. Watching screen recordings on HotJar, our credit card text box doesn't populate & the dropdown menu for customer location glitches out. I thought it was a cache issue as it seemed to be ok after I cleared mine but then my HotJar recordings showed the issue again when a customer was trying to checkout in Japan and the credit card section wasn't populating. submitted by /u/asparaguspaws [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Moving from GoDaddy

I'm starting up a small business in my local area (South West England). I just need a simple webpage to describe what services I offer, list my prices and provide a contact form etc. I've drafted and published a free website on GoDaddy. GoDaddy provide a Whatsapp button which I really like as Whatsapp is big here. At some point in the future I'd like to add some videos. I would also like my own domain and an email address tied to that domain and some sort of simple facility to access those emails. I chose GoDaddy on a recommendation, but I've since read that GoDaddy is not great value (someon ..read more

Webhosting newbie questions - multiple musician/blog websites in one household

Hi, my partner and I are both performers and I also have a separate blog. We've realized we're spending an insane amount of money between our 3 websites (2 currently on WordPress and 1 on Wix), and we're looking to find a cheaper option. It seems like some kind of webhost is a good shout, since the websites are already built and we can just migrate all 3 to one account and share the costs. However, I'm definitely not a technology person (I designed my own website/blog, but in Wix/Wordpress, and do not know ANY coding). Am I right in thinking a webhost would work for our needs? At the moment w ..read more

(Tl;DR) - Is the hosting company responsible for identifying malware if the techs are asked relevant questions? Is there different login information I could give to a developer to help keep my personal information and my site secure? I've been using Bluehost for my Wordpress sites. I've always had trouble with my logins for both Bluehost and Wordpress since I started using Bluehost about a year ago. I also hired a developer (for cheap) on Fiverr. Today I contacted Bluehost support for the 12th time. Finally, I was able to ask the right questions and provide the right info so that it could be ..read more

Looking for Anyone With Experience with Verpex Hosting

So I'm in the market for new reseller hosting. My current host is 'ok' but I'm getting to the number of sites/clients where I'd be more comfortable spreading the risk by not having everything under a single host. I have recently come across Verpex and I'd never heard of them before so I came here to search - the last time they were mentioned here was a year ago. I was curious if anyone had any more current experience with them and would be willing to provide some input on support/performance etc... As per the rules here.... What is your monthly budget? Up to $40. Where are you/your users loc ..read more
