Just finished talking to a rep at A2 Hosting, who claims that T-Mobile is blocking traffic to A2 for most of its users, that it's been going on since early April, and that they haven't been able to contact T-Mobile about it. No explanation given. Transcript of the conversation: https://pastebin.com/Je8ZmCkT Key snippet: I totally understand your concern. Unfortunately, our engineers have not yet heard back from T-Mobile regarding this issue. They continue their investigation . We are happy to work with the T-Mobile NOC to resolve it but it is clear T-Mobile is actively blocking the traffic d ..read more

Best cpanel hosting service for the price

I'm a web designer/developer who shut down my web hosting account (cpanel) about 5 years ago. I was happy with the company I was working for and needed to save money. My original hosting service was through hostmonster, but prices have jumped. I'm out of touch with the web-hosting world and seeking advice. I was wondering if there are any recommended hosting services out there that will allow me to code a simple HTML/CSS/JS portfolio website for myself. No email hosting services. No bells and whistles. Just a place that'll allow me coding freedom. submitted by /u/nekokashi [visit reddit] [co ..read more

DOMAIN.COM STOLE MY MONEY !!!

I've got to share something really tough that happened to me with Domain dot Com . See, things haven't been easy lately. I lost my job, and money's been tight. But I didn't let that stop me. I had this idea for a little business, and I wanted to make it happen, even with just a bit of money in my pocket. I stumbled upon DOMAIN.COM while looking for a domain for my small project. With only $110 left in my bank, every dollar mattered. I figured I could manage to register a domain for a year, which cost $11. But when I tried, they said I needed to chat with support first to get an ID. I chatted ..read more

When it comes to webhosting, if somebody has a business or site, are they better off to webhost media on their own site, or, is it much faster/slower if they use a "legacy carrier" (Youtube/etc..)? I didn't know if the user has a faster/slower experience if the webhost is not a legacy one?

Hello everyone, We're working on a university project to develop a website using Django. The main content of the website is a survey, and we also want to enable interactive access to a database. This means users can set various filters and see corresponding results. We've roughly completed the content, but I'm struggling with the next steps. Unfortunately, I'm not very familiar with database integration and hosting, as it wasn't covered in our university curriculum. Here are the technical details: The website is being developed using Django in PyCharm Professional. Currently, we're using the ..read more

Optimal Hosting Choices

We have two subscription sites. One is a PHP site that has (at most) 50-100 concurrent users. One is a WP site that has long detailed interviews that are saved and reused and a robust forum group. At a given time there could be 50 people in the interviews, answering questions and saving the answers. An addition 200 could be in the forums at any given time. Our sites are running slow on SiteGround. We have tried GoDaddy and Host_nger. All are slow. So the question - advice on hosting that will give us rapid page loads and handle our traffic. Thank you in advance. submitted by /u/OneWoman305 ..read more

If a person rents space on a webhost..can they choose which data center their code gets put on? I mean, if they are on the east coast..and then the webhost has 3 data centers in USA, for ex in NYC, Texas, and California..does it automatically go on east coast, or, do they request it?

Migrating from Plesk to something like migadu / Purelymail. DNS question.

If you have a mail server at mail.domain.com but are migrating through the online optons, you are still to update the DNS for domain.com You will be moving emails from domain.com to domain.com, so how does the migration work as DNS will point to one server but you are moving to the same domain via the mirgations tools. For example imap sync. submitted by /u/totallihype [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Transferred domain to new reg, but web.com still shows it in the list as active

Has anyone else had this issue with domains on web.com? They recently bought the affordable reg I used to use and when they took it over, they jacked the prices to over twice of what it was instantly. So I have been transferring my domains away from them to a new reg. One domain has been transferred for close to a week now to the new reg (others pending). Whois shows it as the new reg and everything. But web.com still shows it in its own domain list as active, threatening that it will renew in a few weeks. Anyone else have this issue with them? So far, I can't vouch for that company at all ..read more

US Gov't wants invasive know-your-customer regulations for cloud providers

The U.S. Department of Commerce is pushing to require the IaaS industry (infrastructure as a service, ex: AWS and other virtual machine hosts) to verify customer identities with bank-grade KYC: The proposed rule would institute a CIP requirement for U.S. IaaS providers akin to the “know your customer” requirements applicable to banks, introducing a complex compliance protocol that will require resources and lead time. ( That's from the summary at NatLawReview, worth reading ) From the rule text, this would affect: any product or service offered to a consumer, including complimentary or “tr ..read more
