The Cherry Blossom Bracelet Video

While I love making canes the reason I started making clay stuff was to make cool beads for my jewellery making side hustle and making my own headpins was a bonus. I use little flower canes to make floral headpins that can be turned into links and charms easily. The cherry blossom version turned out particularly cute especially once I toned down the centre of the flower to be a better mix of cherry blossom colours. This video is also my 50th long form video on my channel! I’m kinda impressed even though it has definitely been an off and on again type thing the whole way through ..read more

The Long Fern Leaf Cane Video

Every fern I make turns out a little different but I’m starting to get the hang out of it these days. This is a variation on my regular one – a bit longer and more feathery – and it’s a useful little cane! Basically, you make a base leaf unit then reduce and combine to make a more interesting pattern… like a lot of other cane making! You can find this cane in my Etsy shop at: the long fern cane And the how to video is right here ..read more

My art day job is making and selling my artwork and that includes online. Online, I mostly crank out canes and beads. I’ve been making little stacks of canes, mostly for the shop, but here’s a few pieces I did use them in! Spoiler: it’s beads. It’s all beads, all the way down. And if it isn’t round beads, it’s little slab tile beads that become earrings ..read more

This cane friend ended up much more vibrantly green than the silvery, muted green the actual plant is and my stripes are much spikier than necessary…. but the process worked out pretty well so I’m conflicted a bit. It’s a success but I could do it cuter probably? I think I have in one of the other batches I’ve done. Still, have a peperomia leaf cane video and another entry in my houseplant series! The little earrings in NEXT WEEK’S video are an example of what I make with tiny leaves but there are some artists doing absolutely fantastic minis with theirs and I should… but oh goodness it’s sup ..read more

The Spring Leaf Cane

I needed a leaf to go with my cherry blossom, in a nice springy green, and a chance to basically update my previous fall leaf video from 4 years ago. I’ve also got a written tutorial for this cane if written words work better for you! They do for me. This exact design is what I use for most of my standard leaves in my shop and it’s flexible… I do them in all sorts of shades. This specific one will show up in the shop during the next mini-update on March 2nd or 3rd but if you need a piece ahead of that let me know. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-BwyWH-lNII ..read more

This week’s video is a cherry blossom style cane. I made the initial petal huge so that I could use it for both this cane and for flower beads and finished jewellery a little later on. The little flowers turned out so wholesomely, gently pink I’m pretty darned happy with them ..read more

I’m on a tiny bit of a roll – which I am jinxing probably – but here’s the FIFTH weekly video in a row. I’ll probably be doing a few spring flowers and leaves over the next month or two along with, hopefully, my first con prep video so keep an eye out for some tulips, a daffodil maybe, some cherry blossoms along with a peperomia, an anthurium, and a purple princess begonia. And some bead and slab making shorts or reels ..read more

The Shop Update Is TOMORROW

February 4th is the day I’ll have all the new stuff and the restock loaded up into my web shop and into my Etsy shop. Why hit the web shop? It’ll be a lil less expensive and that shop will carry more of my catalogue as time goes on since there’s no relist fees on there. I will keep a good stock of items on Etsy but as stuff lapses on there it may or may not come back. Etsy keeps making themselves more and more difficult to work with so I’m putting time and effort into other projects ..read more

The Coffee Cup Cane Video

Once upon a time a customer requested a coffee cup cane for her float pens – which means TEENY TINY slices – and so I made one. Since cane orders tend to result in more than just what the customer wants I listed the rest for sale online and it proved popular. So I made a restock for 2024… and filmed the process since I’m doing it anyways. For the version 2 of this design I made the sketch up in Illustrator first, to size, or about 60mm tall (a little over 2 inches), printed that out, and used it to measure my parts against it as I went. I knew the cane I would make would be similar in size t ..read more
