A Pleasant Morning

I had some time to clean out some of my gardens Sunday and lo and behold my daffodils are getting ready to bloom soon.  The last of my house guests left Sunday Morning. (my brother) So, it is laundry central here and finally the sun came out enough for me to get in the gardens.  Today my sweet friend and I headed for Conaway to see Mary Ann Espositio and her husband Guy who is one amazing gardener! I believe he is a retired surgeon. His garden is huge 60ft by 30ft! I would love to be his neighbor he said he shares.  She is a very well-known tv chef here in NH on PBS. She said ..read more

The solar eclipse yikes! They came by the thousands and thousands! What would have been a 4 hrs trip home for some of them turned into 13 hrs!!!! So glad I was going in the opposite direction to my rug class.   This is our fearless leader, Pam Bartlett. This is the first event she has held in her brand-new space. I get there a little early and I find out she went to the hospital the night before for a kidney stone!! She missed most of the first day. But our teacher Michelle kept the class on track. And Pam joined us late afternoon. My sweet friend Bonnie worked on this rug. She has h ..read more

The Storm Has Passed

We got about 12 inches this storm. But the difference is this was very heavy and the wind was fierce. And the trees fell and the power poles broke, and the wires tangled and it was a MESS. We lost power for about 16 hrs but our generator did its job and it wasn't bad at all. My sweet friend lost her power for 4 days!!! No generator sadly. There were thousands without power at one point. I kept busy between stitching... And eating cookies made from chopped chocolate Easter bunnies. Yes I am an expert at puttering. Today I took a ride to the beach. The skies turned blue and while win ..read more

Use Up, Make Do

This is not a very good picture, but I would love to tell you.  how I used up some leftovers. I had mac and cheese, chicken salad, focaccia bread, and a couple of tablespoons of whipped ricotta cheese. I made a casserole with these leftovers! I layered the mac and cheese on the bottom, I mixed the ricotta cheese in and a little milk to make it looser. Next layer I put the chicken salad. (It was a pretty basic chicken salad I baked the breasts with French herbs all over them and once baked, I ground it in the food processor with some mayo and salt and pepper.) Then I took the focaccia and ..read more

The full moon was this week. I have felt restless and unsettled all week. The amout of sickness and accidents in family and friends close to me is a bit unnerving.  Then appliances are starting to break. There was an earth quake last night and they think one that was a bit further north a few days ago. It is not unheard of here but certainally unusual. I could go on. Is it the pull of the moon? Is it the up coming eclipse? Or is it something more? Or just a crazy coincidence? I am just kidding (maybe)               Have a great week ..read more

Yes, you little rodent you did lie!!!! It snowed and it snowed and it snowed all day Sat. 21 inches! The biggest storm all winter! This sweet little bird kept looking in the window wondering why there are green plants in there. There was a feeding frenzy all day at the feeder.  I can't remember if this is the 3rd or 4th year, but they are back! from just bare sticks to this, what a money saver. That is what that sweet little bird kept looking at poor little guy.  What do you do on a snowy day? A large cup of tea and book or... Beat my husband at baseball! A new game ..read more

Syrup Season

On my walk I see this plastic tubing all through the trees on a section of the woods. I know that this is a time saver and helps those with the bigger operations. But I am not a fan of the plastic. I think a good old bucket is best.  The sugar houses just had their open houses for people to see the process. It takes 40 gallons of sap to make one gallon of syrup. There is nothing like pure maple syrup none of that fake stuff for us.  A couple of new potholders to show you.  And just so you don't think that I have given up rug hooking. in a few weeks I start a three-day cla ..read more

Well what do you know part of the pot of gold! (I can wish can't I?) I spent over night with my grand and we made some Easter magic. Easter crystals or Geodes. A fun project it takes overnight and now we wait for them to dry out to be super sparkly.   She wanted to go shopping so off we went. We went to the lindt store and they have a hot chocolate/ coffee bar. You gather the truffles you want in your drink and they put them in with the coffee or cocoa and the truffles melt. To say they were decadent would be an understatement. The last dog walk of the even ..read more
