I’m actually so pleased with the progress so far! The first day I regretted everything and I felt childish having braces put on in my twenties. Now I’m so glad that I did! submitted by /u/lov_rgrl [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Do I have to get my midline corrected?
Reddit - Braces

Long story short I’m missing one of my lower middle tooth which is causing my midline to be misaligned. My orthodontist said in order to correct it she would have to create a space in between my molars and in the future I would have to get a dental implant. That sounds very expensive and I don’t mind the fact that my teeth don’t line up perfectly, is it possible for my orthodontist to stop my braces treatment if I refuse to get my teeth aligned? submitted by /u/Local_Application_91 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Not happy with results? What to do?

Got a palette expander in August of 2021 and got braces shortly after. I had a lot of issues like crossbite, open bite and overjet, I had to do rubber bands. In less than a month I’m supposed to be getting them off but I’m not really happy with the result. I know it’s a lot better but I was originally very insecure about my gum showing and now that they have closed my open bite my gums are showing a lot more and it looks super unnatural when I smile like my smile is too small for my mouth. I have been wanting to go with jaw surgery now to move my jaws and eliminate my gummy smile. But I’m ..read more

Braces are Painful!

I got my braces on yesterday in the afternoon, and omg I was not prepared. I already wanna start a liquid and purée diet lmao. It seems so appealing by this point. The spacers didn't work well enough on my bottom left molar, so it's tight with the metal band and painful when I eat, and uncomfortable when I bite without food. I had spacers on for 2 weeks, after 1 week they stop hurting so I guess they stopped making space when it was needed? It's tight and hurts even on my front teeth, top and bottom teeth so I can't even bite. The only spot I can eat comfortably is the back right corner of my ..read more

My braces were taken off when I was 15, i'm 18 now and i think i need palette expanders

As the title says, I think I need to expand my upper jaw as i have a somewhat prominent overbite and very narrow palette. I don't know why my orthodontist never mentioned this, but after having some difficulty breathing on my back at night i've done a lot of research and came to this conclusion, which i will discuss with my orthodontist in my next appointment. My question is does this mean i'll need surgical expanders and re apply braces due to the gap tooth that will occur if i do get palette expanders? I'm just so fucking pissed my orthodontist never mentioned any of this, and only now i've ..read more
