HELP!

I am a 56 yo still going through perimenopause (or am I?) - I have been bleeding most days for the past year, frequently passing massive clots the size of an medium egg - sometimes larger. I’ve been to the doctor but there’s no urgency. Ablation is an option but not guaranteed (and I can’t afford the out-of-pocket expense). My Q is: Will this eventually go away on its own? I do have a small fibroid, but by the collective amount of clots/(tissue?) passed, I feel like I’ve shed a small human. Can anyone offer insight? I’m grateful! submitted by /u/BobiXross [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Combining HRT with something herbal for hot flashes

I started HRT 2 weeks ago and it has started to help a bit with hot flashes. I'm down to 2 or 3 a night. Last night was a disaster, and I lost count. I know it can take months for the full effect of HRT, so I was wondering if there is anything I should take alongside HRT to help or if I should just sit back and wait for the meds to kick in? I worry that taking something could interfere with the HRT drugs and make it worse...if that is even possible at this point. Pray for me today that I don't fall asleep at my desk! It's going to be a rough one! submitted by /u/Lulu_everywhere [visit reddit ..read more

In the depths of peri at 42 with ADHD on top. Feel like I’ve got nothing to live for. Can HRT or anything else help?

I was diagnosed at 39 with ADHD, peri symptoms started showing at 40. The combination of both has been crippling, especially over the past few months. Can HRT help with any of the below? ? My memory and drive to do anything are awful, even more so than before with just the ADHD. The head fog is awful. I struggle to string a sentence together. I’m terrible at keeping in contact and replying to messages from friends. The fact I forget to reply for days / weeks has given me massive anxiety. So much so, that I’ve basically given up on replying and engaging with the few friends I had because I’m ..read more

My body and my mind switched on me.

Has anyone else had this happen to them? Before perimenopause I had a pretty good libido and really comfortable with sex talk. I wasn’t that comfortable in my body. Since the change started, I am now more comfortable in my body despite the changes but I haven’t been interested in sex and don’t even want to talk about it or watch scenes of it on the screen. I know low libido is normal but for most of my same age friends I’m the anomaly. I had dinner with a single friend last night and listening to her talking about her sexcapades was nauseating. submitted by /u/libaya [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Does topical estriol cream used on the face have systemic effects?

I know the vaginal application does not but what about applying to the face and neck? The studies i have found seem to conflate topical face/neck with vaginal application and sometimes oral administration. Thanks in advance for any insights. Estrogen gel - lowering my dose

I started HRT in Nov. The supply of patches in my area has been pretty bad so gel is my method. At my 4 month follow-up, the blood test showed that my estrogen has gone way way up. I know to go by symptoms, not blood tests, but this was definitely too high from my very low in Nov. Plus I had some over the top anxiety episodes which were most likely from too much estrogen so want to lower my dose. I was using 1 Sandrena sachets (same as Divigel in the US) per day. I'm not sure I can use 1/2 a sachet -might be tricky to sqeeze out some of the gel vs the whole contents. If you have any experienc ..read more

ADHD versus Menopause?

So I’m (another) newly diagnosed 59 yo with ADHD. The big issue is my doc thinks that my concerns about menopause symptoms are “just” the ADHD. He states that hormone testing is pointless as I “won’t have any hormones left to test”. Now I’m even more confused!! (Im also hypothyroid but that’s another story). why do I hear about hormone testing then if it’s not recommended? How does one know what doses are needed for HRT? I keep hearing about different combos.. how does one know what is needed? Guesswork?? ? Any supportive articles would be great so that I can start to make sense of HRT. I ..read more

Lie about last period to receive HRT

hi everyone, I hope this is not triggering and and I’m hoping to get real answers. I noticed based on our insurance our doctor will not give HRT unless I have not had a period for a year. I am 48 and have been perimenopausal for a few years with almost every symptom in the book. based on my research, I would be a good candidate for HRT minus the potential of getting melasma as I am Asian. My question is other than the ethics of lying any other cons of telling the doctor I have not had a period for a year so I may get HRT? From my research perimenopause can last many more years and I want reli ..read more

Okay , I've always been an amazing speller and a good writer. Never been a great public speaker but I'm hilarious and a good conversationalist. You guys, I can't spell and I struggle with writing. Additionally, i constantly lose my words as speaking. I have adhd and am medicated. Is this from menapause/ peri or am I experiencing early onset. My grandmother died from alzheimers but was fine at my age. Anyone else?, submitted by /u/Corinne43 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Rant: So I’m Not Post Menopausal

My doctor told me over a year ago that I was post-menopausal at age 42 despite never missing a period. This was based on labs, which she repeated to confirm the results. I was having hot flashes, night sweats and brain fog, but I hadn’t missed a period. I still haven’t missed a period. She did a biopsy of my uterine lining because she said that bleeding after menopause can indicate cancer. It was fine, thankfully. She put me on HRT. I was devastated about being post menopausal, I’ve been devastated for the past year! Today I learned from this group that menopause can’t be diagnosed based on l ..read more
