I've been dealing with tiredness for a long time. I went to the doctors about it 2 month ago. They did blood tests which came back OK. Doctor asked about my sleep and I said it's fine (I use a cpap machine) but I do wake up to go to the toilet most nights.
My symptoms are slight weak stream, dribble at the end and numb pains (not really painful more annoying than anything) around my lower stomach more to the left. Also a strange feeling very low in the middle.
The doctor examined me yesterday and said my prostate seems normal size but he felt a pea sized lump and now I'm being referred to get ..read more

Such an agonizing decision to make. You would think after you hit 60 you’ve had your share of difficult choices…. Gleason 4+3 (90% grade 4) One tumour only confirmed by MRI and PSMA Scan. QOL versus relative peace of mind. IRE/Nanoknife versus RALP. One of those decisions you would want someone else to make for you!

I’m so relieved. 6 week lab test implies that it’s all gone.
Glad I went with the RALP.
Starting to get some very early erectile activity as well.

Hey all… would be interested if anyone has grappled with this issue before. I had a biopsy 23 March and now looking into surgery as treatment. I’m 45 and want to make sure I’m approaching this in the best way to help nerve sparing etc. However, I’ve heard conflicting things on timing between the biopsy and surgery … one surgeon we spoke to was very blunt and said 3 months while others 4 weeks. This report suggests 4-6 week period is not good. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/30676305/ This board is incredible … thank you in advance ?

This is probably a very stupid question, however. . . I will be seeing my primary on Monday and Urologist on Wednesday and due to my PSA doing the yo-yo thing (last value 7.x down from 9.6 after Ab), as you all suggested, I am going to discuss getting an MRI done. Other than possibly showing lesions and location, what, if any info will it provide?
I'm expecting a fight on this from uro-boy; not so much from my primary who wanted me to get a biopsy last year.
Any information will be greatly appreciated.

I just got back from the doctor's office.
Catheter was removed.
Staples were removed.
The cancer... Still hanging around a little bit.
Upgraded from a Gleason 7 to a Gleason 9 and changed from 10 to 20% coverage to 20 to 40% coverage.
The remaining cancer is around the area where the bladder connected to the prostate but it was a hard area to fix without damaging the bladder or urethra so we're going to watch it until July and retest with a new PSA then. My doctor says it's very possible that without the "mothership " it could starve itself out. Worst case scenario some radiation therapy but ..read more

Thanks for helping me through my 8.5 PSA and a couple of 8-9 Gleason scores. Just got home from my PSA-PET imaging. Radiologist report available in a couple of days. Meanwhile I’m supposed to start taking daily dose of 50 mg Casodex immediately. Read the side effects of course but wonder how it affects real people over time. I’m almost 76 so the romance side of things isn’t a huge issue. Thanks in advance!

Couple of months ago, I asked for opinions & experiences re forgoing sedation for a prostate biopsy.
Lots of people kindly replied & it was mostly a split verdict.
I had to reschedule the original appointment & finally had it done today.
I decided to go without sedation and wanted to post a follow up for anyone who may have the same questions pending the procedure.
On balance, it wasn't that bad. Obviously, it was uncomfortable, but nowhere near as bad as I thought it would be.
I had to fight the natural desire to clench up - and forcing myself to relax probably helped a lot.
