Hey everyone! As the title states, I have an interview with a FQHC dental clinic coming up. What are some good questions to bring up with admin? So far was thinking of expectations/workflow/clinic speed expected of a new grad dentist entering this realm. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! submitted by /u/jim10halpert [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Nasty OM. Better to confront or just ignore?
Reddit » Dentistry

I’ve been at my current position now since the summer and the office manager has grown increasingly rude to me. She’s starting to shorten my appointments and push me to do more treatment in one appointment which causes me to run behind. I’m a bit of a pushover so I often just say yes to her requests. Is it better to confront in a professional way and, if so, how do I approach the conversation. Or is it better to ignore and possibly start looking for other jobs? submitted by /u/cartula [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Local anesthesia 1-5min Decay removal and buildup 5-10 min Depth cuts and gross reduction 2-3min Refinement and occlusal reduction verification 5min Double cord packing 5-10 min Comprecap 3-5min Scan prep 5-10sec So my chair time for a single tooth crown prep is about 30-40min and I block out 1.5hours. Is this pretty average or slow? submitted by /u/Organic_Print7953 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Any TDIC account holders here?

I thought my LTD account was through TDIC but apparently (and disappointingly) they just referred me to another company so I don’t have access to any of their documents. We had a Delta Dental auditor examine our office recently and he told me to incorporate TDIC consent forms. Is there any way someone could send me the two zip files for “all forms in zip file” for both English and Spanish? tdicinsurance.com/Manage-Risks/informed-consent submitted by /u/CAdentist [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Are you guys also afraid to develop a condition that will affect your work ?

I love being a dentist, to study, help people, do the practical stuff, but I’m afraid to develop some condition that will limit my mobility like sclerosis, Parkinson or something like that. I have difficulty walking, I walk with a limp and there are many times where I drop stuff from my hands, or they start shaking a bit, have a bit of a problem with speech, I’ve made some neurological tests and everything was fine, but I’m afraid to develop some serious condition. I can live my whole life using a cane, a wheelchair, prosthesis or something like that I just don’t want to loose my hands/arms ..read more

Early career options outside clinical dentistry? Especially remote work?

Hi all, I've been practicing as an associate just shy of 3 years. I really like the people I work for/with and I'd like to think I do great work, but I find myself increasingly anxious and frustrated about doing day to day treatment. Don't get me wrong, it is sometimes actually nice to help people and the work can be rewarding and even fun. But generally speaking I don't feel like the pay as a GP associate is worth the mental and physical demands of the job. Plus no real retirement benefits or PTO/sick leave, although that may be something I can negotiate when my contract renews. Obviously ow ..read more
