Hello fellow Redditors, I'm suffering from a skin desease (excema, neurodermatitis) which is triggered by the intake of sugar. I have been hospitalized several times for cortisone treatment (topical on skin) which doesn't really help and seems to be pretty unhealthy. Unfortunatley I'm f*cking addicted to sugar, I'm almost abusing it as a drug. Whenever I am able to stay away from anything that contains sugar for 3 or 4 days, I relapse and buy sweets. I always feel very guilty afterwards (my skin keeps me up at night) but I am not able to stop. The craving for sweets or even bread that contain ..read more

Not realizing you have an issue when everybody around you says you do: is that an ED symptom?

I’m diagnosed with body dysmorphic disorder but I never got diagnosed with an ED. Everybody around me (friends, family, boyfriend) say I have an ED and that I should seek medical help. But the fact is that I feel fine, my doctor also thinks I’m fine (weight, normal blood tests) and I think the problem is the people around me who can’t understand my diet and lifestyle choices. My dad is an alcoholic so I perfectly understand the fact that sometimes when people have a problem, they refuse seeing it. Everybody around them can see they have an issue but they can’t, they become blind. I’m worried ..read more

How do I ask for help without feeling like I'm looking for attention?

I don't get disordered thoughts often now that I'm medicated, but I do still have them. Sometimes I'll feel fine eating a "normal" amount (I don't really know how much is normal and I feel skeptical about the amount of calories I'm supposed to eat), other times I won't want to eat at all and I'll feel like I'm greedy and glutenous for eating a bit, and then other times (like now) i feel bad eating anything that wasn't given to me, so if my parents hand me food ill eat it and feel ok but if I eat on my own I'll feel horrible. I used to purge, but I also didn't binge/purge it was just the purgi ..read more

Hi I’m looking for advice or information on what this may be. My sister has lost ALOT of weight, seemingly very quickly. We used to workout together, but she does not workout anymore and states she just “stops eating when she’s full”. For a while I believed this, but she has become incredibly thin to the point where she is beginning to look unhealthy, she is basically skin and bones, her hair is thinning and not as thick as it used to be. I see her eat small portions, but I’m unsure if this is medical or an eating disorder. I mentioned this to her and told her my concern of this being somethi ..read more
