The W and O treks are undoubtedly popular ways to experience Torres del Paine National Park, but they are not the only options. As the number of tourists on these trails continues to rise, I’m thrilled to introduce you to a new way to explore the park. With the advent of e-bikes, you can now traverse the park and its surroundings with ease. In this article, I’ll share why e-biking at Torres del Paine National Park is a fantastic alternative to hiking, based on my own experience.
I hiked the W circuit over a decade ago, and even then, it was so popular that all the lodging and camping spots wer ..read more

Welcome to the shell-abration – where lobster is the center of attention. You might even say it’s the lob-star! Not only did I eat an incredible amount of lobster the week I was at the Nova Scotia Lobster Crawl, but I also heard so many lobster puns – it was lobsteriffic!
I traveled to South Shore, Nova Scotia, for a week in February…yes, February—to take part in the Nova Scotia Lobster Crawl festival. The South Shore Lobster fishing season runs from the last week in November to the last week in May, and the South Shore Lobster Crawl happens every February.
I’ve enjoyed many summer road trips ..read more

Being a non-skier in Colorado can be perplexing to people. People often question why I moved to Colorado if I don’t ski. Of course, that’s ludicrous – there are so many things to do in the Colorado Rockies besides skiing!
It’s inevitable that as a non-skier in Colorado, you’ll likely have skiing friends, however you don’t have to avoid them all winter – instead you can join them to go play in the mountains. In 1984 my father began a quest, albeit unconventional. He was 47 and his mission was to visit the capitols of the lower 48 states on foot, starting in Illinois, where we lived, following a counter-clockwise roadmap of his own making. By age 72, he’d trekked to 23 capitals walking approximately 4,085 miles.
Unfortunately, at 87, my father will not finish his quest. Therefore, I am assuming my father’s mantle to complete the last 26 capitol routes –– with a small tweak. I’m going forward by bike.
I was 14 when my father started his unusual pursuit, which made me an embarrassed and frustrated te ..read more
