Burnout or something else

Tonight 60 minutes into a challenging 90 minute structured workout on Zwift I just stopped pedaling and called it a day. I only had to do 4 more minutes of tough work, a 4 minute easy spin, then 8 more minutes of tough work then a long easy cool down. I could have kept going as prescribed, or just soft peddled the last 30 minutes but I just didn't want to. Ever get to this point? I feel like my motivation is all over the place, some days I'm all-in, some days I'm making excuses before I even begin. Note: been training for my first 70.3 for 6 months, have 3 months left. I'm a bottom third age ..read more

Hey all - dipping toes into a tri bike after doing a few triathlons on my road bike in recent years, and I'm close to pulling the trigger on a used bike with prior generation Ultegra di2 shifting and DuraAce tri brakes. But my road bikes, including a set of nice Enve race wheels, are all SRAM 12 spd. If I were to replace the derailleurs, shifting blips, and probably the BB (?), I can keep the DuraAce brakes, right? Is there anything else I would need to keep in mind, assuming I'm using my existing SRAM 12spd wheels and cassette? Trying to minimize costs but want to keep the drivetrain SRAM if ..read more

My first triathlon in a little over a week. Kind of nervous hard to train working full time and coaching but very excited. The goal is to finish I guess. Just curious if anyone on here has done it and if you have any tips? submitted by /u/scar-grouch [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hello! Today a ran a 5k but I noticed I’m having trouble keeping a consistent pace! I feel like I always tire myself out right away and by the end I’m running for a bit the walking then running then jogging. It just feels very random! If anyone has any tips to run a more consistent pace it would be greatly appreciated! submitted by /u/FerretFeet1 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Have my first sprint coming up. Tried on some wetsuits & .......oof. They didnt have the zip down the front/back ones, only the ones that zip across the neckline & you step into. Has anyone wore that type? Hoping I find something that works in time. submitted by /u/Big-Ad-9239 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi, not only am I beginner in triathlon but this is also my first post on reddit! I was wondering what materials or information I can use in order to properly plan my training. I am pretty out of shape cardiovascular wise and have been training in the gym for the past couple of months and decided to do some cardio in the form of running/cycling. Since I've started I have completely fallen in love with it and decided to train for an ironman 70.3 next year as a goal to have in mind in my training so as to stay motivated while I do it. I've been struggling to figure out how to properly distribut ..read more

Hi! I have an 70.3 in exactly 30 days. My swimming is pretty good (still needs improved but I can comfortably swim 1.2k at a good pace). My running is the best it’s ever been, I completed a marathon a few days ago. My cycling however, is not good. I’ve done very little training on the bike, I would say I’m beginner-level. With the time I have until the 70.3 (30 days), what is the most effective and efficient way I can train for the cycling section? submitted by /u/Suspicious-Major8924 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

The title kinda says it all, I’m thinking about buying a pair of compression socks to help improve my recovery but the opinions about their effect are kinda mixed (at least the ones I’ve heard so far). What are your opinions about it? submitted by /u/brainy_28 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

HR zones running vs. cycling

I read regularly on this forum that HR zones are different for running and cycling, and have experienced so myself. However, I am wondering what people do to find out their zones. Ideally one would lab test for both of them I guess? But that is kinda pricey... So far, my HR zones are the same for both, and while they seem to be accurate for running, they feel off for cycling. I guess my question amounts to: How do you set up your HR zones? I'd be particularly interested in the setup of people who train by HR for both running and cycling. submitted by /u/SirViv0r [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
