For gearheads – especially those of the two-wheeled species – there may be no place more sacred than London’s Ace Cafe. This legendary coffee shop gave birth to cafe racer culture, the 100-mph “ton-up” club, and the clash between mods and rockers.  The Ace opened in 1938 as a refreshment stop for motorists on the then-new A9 motorway north of London. But it gained notoriety after WWII when England’s youth culture, centered around fast motorcycles, really took off. Long before today’s cars-and-coffee meetups, there was the Ace Cafe. An updated version of the iconic cafe still stands today ..read more

One of the great aspects of Eastwood’s home base in Pottstown, Pennsylvania is the area’s rich car culture. In to heyday, Pottstown was known as the Cruising Capital of the Northeast. If you’ve ever seen the classic film American Grafitti, that was essentially a snapshot of old Pottstown. Today, the town’s main drag, High Street, has been reconfigured to discourage drag racing and cruising. But the locals still show up anyway to park and hang out together the first Saturday of the month between May and October. Pottstown Nights, as it’s officially known, is no longer an underground scene but p ..read more

How to Use an Ultrasonic Parts Cleaner for Restoration Perfection
Eastwood Auto Restoration Blog
by The Garage

Of all the special tools required for a good mechanical restoration, few are as indispensable as an ultrasonic parts cleaner. This type of cleaner works by producing high-frequency sound waves that create cavitation bubbles in a cleaning solution. These bubbles implode near the surface of the objects being cleaned, effectively dislodging contaminants and dirt from the surface. Nothing does a better job at eliminating stubborn buildup on intricate or hard-to-reach components. Ultrasonic cleaners are best used for removing dirt, grease, oil, and other contaminants from small parts like nuts, bol ..read more

In this installment, Adam prepares the bed of the C-10 project for bed liner application. A coat of epoxy primer ensures there’s no issues with the bed liner materials, which he sprays on using a traditional “Schutz” gun for undercoating and other heavy finishes. Watch the video to see Adam’s full explanation of each step and check out the final results. The post Bagged C-10 – Spraying on New Bed Liner appeared first on The Garage ..read more

Eastwood Auto Restoration Blog

Years ago, I used to take immaculate care of my car. Never took it through an automatic car wash, only used pure cotton towels, even waxed the door jambs a couple times a year. And even though I rarely have an entire weekend to dedicate to nothing but detailing my car, I still care. I was explaining to friend that I recently gave in to using waterless car wash and was blown away. I washed ..read more

Sahara Tan. Cavalry Blue. Cacti Green. Nardo Grey. Chalk. You may not know these colors by name, but chances are you’ve seen them on the road recently. You may even be wondering what’s up with all these colors that look like, well, clay. Over the last few years, carmakers have been adding these muted mineral tones to their pallets. From a distance they look like old single-stage lacquers from the ‘50s. But they’re not quite flat, and in fact many are enhanced with the close-range shimmer of fine mica or pearl. In contrast to their unassuming appearance, however, these desaturated colors often ..read more
