It’s time for the 3rd and final video in my series about organic insect control. And I saved the worst for last! In the video, I focus on cucumber beetles, Japanese beetles, squash bugs and squash vine borers. You’ll see what different life stages look like, which crops they are attracted to, what their damage looks like, and how to control them organically. If you’re wondering what’s in the photo to the left, those are the eggs of squash bugs. They’re typically laid on the undersides of squash or pumpkin plants, between the large veins. And the photo at the very top is of Japanese beetles. I ..read more

Tobacco hornworm. This week’s video is the second of three installments about organic insect control. In this video, I focus on more challenging vegetable garden insects: flea beetles, hornworms, and slugs and snails. Although I should clarify that those last two are technically mollusks, rather than insects. It is so important to use organic strategies and products to control these and other types of damaging insect pests. Why? Well, the whole idea of growing your own food – other than saving a lot of money – is to eat healthy, chemical-free produce. Right? The insect in the photo at the very ..read more

You’ll learn what the numbers mean on a package of fertilizer and how the nutrients benefit the crops we grow. It makes a BIG difference! I hope you’ll find this really useful. I should add that I’m not trying to promote any particular brand of fertilizer in this video. They just happen to be what I have on hand at the moment! @epicgardening #epicgardeningambassador The post Video: Fertilizer Bas ..read more
