Got the radish seeds in the ground today, 3 rows. I put fewer seeds than the planner app recommends, it recommends 4 rows, so that comes to 16 per square. Compared to that I now have 12, plus one is only half a row, so even less. The wind is very strong today, it was quite unpleasant to work outside, even though the sun is shining full force. But the radishes had to get into the ground as soon as possible, so I had to put up with the inconvenience. It got plenty of watering, so we'll see what happens. In principle, the seeds should sprout in 5 days.
I appreciate any advice or practice abo ..read more

Just wondering if this is going to cause problems when I transplant. I feel like last year's plants had a lower stem to leaf ratio, but I could be imagining it.

I have a space in my yard with full sun all day, and I’d like to start a small garden in it.
The squares in the diagram are 1’ each.
I have never gardened before outside of standard yard maintenance, but I’d like to slowly work up to something like I have in the picture.
Is a garden this diverse and compact feasible? For some reason I feel like it would have hindrances.
Thanks!

Have started tomato seedlings indoors. They are about 8 weeks old nice and bushy. I have also hardened them off by putting them outdoors from few minutes to almost entire day now. I take them indoors now.
But the thing that I am not sure about, we don't really get frost in the areas where I live. Its just super cold out but no frost. So last frost day thing doesn't really work for me. Can someone please take a look at my weather forecast (for San Jose, california). And let me know when I should plant my tomatoes outdoors?
Just looking for an ideal time to plant them outdoors. I don't want the ..read more

I’m looking for something I can eat as a salad.
I guess it would be a warm weather crop. It will be grown indoors hydroponically. The thermostat in my house is set to 80 during the day and 70 at night. Mostly hovering around 75ish.
Last time i did black seeded Simpson I think it’s called and it bolted pretty fast and tasted bitter in my experience.

This grew over the fence from a neighbour. It's 57cm long.
It looks like a zucchini. It smells like peanut butter and has the internal texture of a soursop.

So, last spring was my first attempt at growing brussel sprouts, didn't do much research aside from what was on the packaging. I think I seeded them a bit late, but ended up with decent crop for 3 plants grown in a tote. Anyway... The lowest sprouts never really grew, and in the end they almost looked like they blossomed. We left them intact after the harvest just to see what would happen. Winter came, they were still there, we cut down the stalks to almost nothing but never removed them, got lazy as it got cold...." I'll wait until spring to pull them". Then, all of the sudden here we ar ..read more
