The main focus of this episode is breaking your defensive possession into thirds. If you have a 30-second shot clock then it would be
10 seconds of transition
10 seconds of pressing
10 seconds of zone and the offense really attacking you to score or get an entry pass for the ejction
I’ll discuss what you want to achieve in each third and the common pitfalls that happen and how you can prevent them.

Harper has this episode’s question.
“I want to become stronger in my legs, especially my eggbeater, but I find it hard to get pool time, especially on my own. What are some workouts on land, or what should my workouts focus on to build strength in the water?”
I’ll discuss how I dealt with limited pool time and how I was able to find space, the three categories of dry land workouts I would focus on regardless of pool time, and some other non-water polo suggestions.

This is the question I had for my own college goalies. How to keep them in shape during the pandemic, how to work on their skills, when we can’t get in the pool and practice or meet face to face?
Right now, we should be in the water with full practices going again. This is the time for our returners to start finding their new roles, expanding their existing roles, and for new leadership to step up.
If you’re in high school, you would be with your local club practicing a couple times a week and probably playing a 3-game tournament on Saturdays and gaining valuable ..read more
