The International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) 2024 Bench Press World Championships (WBC) will be held in Austin, TX, from May 22 — June 1, 2024. Around one thousand athletes will travel to Austin to compete in an eleven-day extravaganza dedicated to the noble art of bench press.
The contest is supported by Eleiko, which will host an athlete village at its USA headquarters in Austin. The village will comprise a training hall, vendor stands, food trucks, and fika (a Swedish tradition of sharing coffee and cake).

Dutch Junior powerlifter Betty Aborah has been in action on the platform, taking part in the Koninklijke Nederlandse Krachtsport en Fitnessbond (KNKF) Dutch Junior Nationals on May 12, 2024. She has made waves with some colossal deadlifts in training, and took this opportunity to prove that she could do it on the platform when it counted.

Danish lifter Karen Thrige Andersen is relatively new to the sport of powerlifting, having started her journey in 2021. Yet, she is already mounting a significant challenge at the international level. She was the European Junior Champion in 2023 but has aged into the Open category.

The European Powerlifting Federation (EPF) held its 2024 European Equipped Powerlifting Championships in Hamm, Luxembourg, from May 10-12, 2024, and Team Ukraine dominated.
Ukraine collected seven gold, four silver, and one bronze medal. They won the team awards for men and women. Ukrainian athletes also secured the best lifters awards: Volodymyr Rysiyev for the men and Larysa Soloviova for the women.

Lightweight Polish powerlifter Zuzanna Kula has been back in action, breaking even more records. On May 10, she competed at the European Powerlifting Federation (EPF) European Equipped Powerlifting Championships (EEC) in Hamm, Luxembourg, in the 57KG class, where she smashed her own bench press world record, which she had recently set at the 2024 Arnold UK.

Powerlifter Brianny Terry has set another all-time world record in the deadlift in the 90KG Raw category.
Terry competed at the 2024 WRPF FQ Classic IV meet in Las Vegas, NV, on Sunday, May 5, 2024, and broke her previous all-time world record in the deadlift with a massive 293-kilogram (645.9-pound) lift. Check it out below, courtesy of Terry’s Instagram page:

74KG competitor Austin Perkins is the highest-ranked tested powerlifter in the world using the DOTs formula. He recently returned to the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) fold and is preparing for his first Classic World Championships (CWC) in 2024.
At the 2024 Powerlifting America Raw Nationals in Reno, Nevada, Perkins squatted 318 kilograms — 29.5 kilograms more than the current world record in the 74KG class. He seems set to lay waste to the IPF record books as soon as he sets foot on an international platform.

Finland-based powerlifter Zahir Khudayarov has lofty ambitions. He holds the all-time world records in squat and total in the 125KG class, but now seeks to join an elite group who have has squatted 500 kilograms or more.
Khudayarov’s training has been ascendant recently. His squats has been immense. Though he hasn’t competed since 2019 and there was speculation that he had retired, Khudayarov seems to be back to full strength, forging into new territory.

Dutch powerlifter Betty Aborah began her lifting career in 2022 but is already knocking on the door of a world-record deadlift. Aborah lifts in the 63KG class in the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF) and is still in the Junior category (ages 19-23). Still, she seems set to rewrite the record books the next time she competes internationally.
