Vulnerability, the Antidote to Loneliness?
The SandGypsy
by Maricel Mansano

Age, gender, and culture have little bearing on the fundamental human feeling of loneliness. It may seem counterintuitive that loneliness is on the rise in a society where technology has made us more connected than ever. Genuine connection, however, is frequently difficult to find amid the deluge of social media updates, innumerable virtual buddies, and limitless chat services. This situation makes vulnerability an unexpected yet potent remedy to loneliness. Being alone because of a lack of physical company is only one sign of loneliness; another is feeling emotionally distant. One may still ..read more

I recently had the pleasure of staying at Amanpulo and it was an absolutely incredible experience. From the moment I arrived on the island, I was struck by the beauty of the surroundings. The crystal clear waters, white sandy beaches, and lush vegetation were absolutely stunning. My villa was absolutely beautiful, with traditional thatched roofing and local materials used throughout. It was spacious and well-appointed, with a private pool and outdoor shower. The view from my villa was breathtaking, with the ocean stretching out as far as the eye could see. Milan Fashion Week is one, if not the best fashion week there is, and I have rounded up some of my favorite looks. Also sharing some of the outfits, I would’ve been wearing had work not gotten in the way, and I’m in Milan both enjoying the view, pizza, and fashion events. Feasted my eyes virtually with the unlimited style-inpos sported by some of my favorite fashion ladies in my pj’s, however. with Netflix and vino, it’s not a bad alternative. While on the plane on my way home, I stumbled upon the movie ‘On The Basis Of Sex, it’s about a young struggling attorney’s journey in dealing with adversity while fighting gender discrimination. It got me thinking about the feminist movement. It’s becoming like a religion, creating a polarity between the feminine and the masculine. I noticed that there are two types of feminist; the one that says ‘Don’t open the door because I can open it myself and the one that says, ‘I can open the door, but, I recognize your masculinity, and I’ll give you the opportunity to demonstrate that. Wearing a suit can be a powerful and empowering experience for a woman. A well-fitted suit can give a woman a strong and confident presence, and can make her feel like she can take on anything. The suit, as a garment, is often associated with men and power. By wearing a suit, a woman can subvert this association and claim her own power and authority. The sharp lines and tailored fit of a suit can give a woman a commanding presence, and can make her feel like she is in control. In addition, a suit can be a versatile garment that can be dressed up or down, depending on the occasion. Whether it ..read more

PARISIAN FOR A WEEK
The SandGypsy
by Maricel Mansano

I have often heard people speak of Paris as the city of romance. My Parisian friends would say otherwise, however, from an outsiders’ viewpoint, the city has distinct energy capable of awakening even the most jaded of hearts. There’s something about the place that makes me want to put my phone down, and people watch or eavesdrop a conversation a couple next to my table is having. I loved seeing couples tucked in a cafe corner laughing, sometimes talking seriously while sipping their wine or coffee. When I think of Paris, I have this song playing in my head; La Vie en Rose Hold me clos ..read more
