What are some good tools needed to clear out this brush around my pond? Also, any tips to keep it cleared out would be very helpful!

Bought our house a couple years ago. Lady before us had the backyard a huge butterfly garden. All this red dead nettle pops up every late winter to early spring along with a bunch of other weeds/plants. Eventually I want to sod the back yard. How do I go about killing all this? Any suggestions would be great. https://imgur.com/a/A10yJHM

I found an acre of very affordable property I like, and it has an old pond on it, let's say 20'x25'. I'd say it's at least 75 years old, so I'm assuming it doesn't have a plastic liner or anything high tech going on. If I was able to make this pond into stable ground, it would make a great build site, since this is a rather sloped property I'm looking at. My questions are:
a.) Can it be done, dry, and stable in a relatively short amount of time(a couple months)?
b.) What kind of fill should one use, to strike a balance with stability and affordability? Obviously quality is the first concern ..read more

I am at a loss for this garden spot. We inherited it when we moved here a year ago. It’s mostly shade, seems to have a lot of nice natural vegetation already, but I’m looking to add more “oomph” and fill in some sparseness. I also have no idea what to do with those crazy forsythia bushes - they’re a little extra. TBH, I’ve never worked with forsythia before. Do I just shape it how I want? Am I supposed to thin it? How do I make it look nice and not messy?

Recently we ripped out a bunch of old bushes and are looking to put a bed closer to the foundation. Looking for recommendations for small/medium sized plants and bushes to go in a mulched bed that don’t require a ton of care. Zone 7. The beds will be on either side of a set of stairs.
