The total collapse of the bridge, which happened in less than 30 seconds, also resulted in the multi-year closure of a major traffic route used by more than 12.4 million vehicles in 2023. Today is National Supply Chain Day when we celebrate all things supply chain! The day was first declared in 2020 during the start of the COVID-19 pandemic when supply chains were thrust onto the world scene. Those two words became what everyone was talking about for the next couple of years – and continues to be even today. The tagline for the day is “Every link in the supply chain matters,” which emphasizes how import each piece of the supply chain is from the raw materials to the transportation element to manufacturing to the labor to omni-channel commerce. When one link is effected, it impa ..read more

Supercharging fulfillment works in concert with accelerating plans, amplifying experiences, and building trust to orchestrate a synchronized supply chain with an end-to-end approach. Fulfillment represents the most cost-intensive stage of the retail supply chain, so it would be strategic for supply chain professionals to consider the margin-wideni ..read more

The shift to omni-channel selling has created many challenges for retailers across their order management and fulfillment operations. Think back over the last three years: a global pandemic, ongoing supply shortages, the Great Resignation, war in Europe, the return inflation, and the threat of recession. Then think about your current merchandise financial planning approach: starting with previous year’s performance before spending countless hours trying to understand emerging trends and reconciling across departments and company goals. Two flaws in this approach really stand out. The first is the over reliance on historical data. The last three years should have taught us that history never repeats. The second flaw is the am ..read more
