I didn’t make my monthly weight loss goal by 05/01, so I extended it a week. I am 2/10 of a pound away from the goal, but I’m moving on! At this stage in my life, one big meal means a weight gain of 2 to 3 lbs. and 4 or 5 days of dieting. It’s an ongoing battle, and I’ve accepted that it will be for the rest of my life. I don’t mind eating healthy most of the time, but there are so many events and temptations – I do want to just eat good tasting food sometimes too. It’s a balancing act for sure. With Easter and some other things going on in April, I had gained a fair amount of weight and had ..read more

Photo Credit: Robin Higgins – Pixabay Admittedly, I haven’t given my blog enough attention over the last couple years. The first year or two, I was into it! It occupied my thoughts frequently, and I put a lot of energy into it. When I started the blog, I was underemployed and needed a creative outlet. I’ve since had more demanding jobs, and I’ve also started making greeting cards, attending craft shows, etc. I just don’t have the time and energy I did. But, I’ve kept it going because I feel like I’m going to do something more with it at some point. My son recently asked if he could start a You ..read more

I had a goal for 04/01. The goal was to be down 7 lbs. from where I was at the beginning of the year. I didn’t make it. I was only down about a pound and a half. I’ll take it though. We just got back from vacation and I had to drop quite a bit after to even get to that point. So, new strategy. The quarterly goal didn’t give me the results I wanted. So, I’m switching to a monthly goal – 2 lbs. by 05/01. Hopefully in a month, I’ll be able to write about my success! I’m sure you’ve had people tell you not to diet – that it’s about a lifestyle change. I’m finding in middle age that is definitely ..read more

I said I would write an update around 11/01. I am late! When I started this blog, almost seven years ago, I was the Mom of two little ones. My little ones are now 10 and 13! They keep me busy! Plus, working full-time, running my little side craft business, and every other thing that comes up – it’s hard to find any extra time. That’s all great – and I am not complaining! I absolutely love being a Mom. But, I have found myself behind on my blog post. So – here’s where I am right now – I am exactly 10 lbs. down from when I started Noom on 07/31. I get it – that doesn’t seem like much for 3.5 mo ..read more

It’s been a rough year, weight-wise. I was up 13 lbs. at the start of the year. I didn’t make a lot of progress over the first half of the year. My new go-to, the metabolism reset diet, was helping me to drop a few lbs. fast most of the time, but it seemed to be all or nothing for me. The diet was so restrictive – when I was off of it, I felt the freedom to eat anything and everything, and I did. I had a weight goal for August. It was late July and I was no where near meeting it. I had been trying the metabolism cleanse, but I wasn’t getting results, so I decided it was time to try something ..read more

I’ve had my share of medical issues. I broke my back when I was 26, and I have had three back surgeries related to that accident. My third surgery, which helped me a great deal, was the result of my persistence that something was wrong. Through that experience, I learned not to always take a single Doctor’s word for everything. For one thing, some issues require a specialist. Some Doctors make incorrect assumptions. The only reason I was able to have kids, with normal pregnancies, is because I knew something was wrong, and I kept going to Doctors until the problem was identified. I was right ..read more

Traveling Alone – 10 Years Later

My longest tenure with a company, in my 25 year career, was nearly 12 years. With that company, I started in Human Resources for the first two years, and then changed to a Regional Manager over Customer Assistance. I really liked that job, and I did it for over nine years. I always say, I would probably still be doing it, except my job was eliminated. With that job, I traveled a couple nights a week, 2 to 4 weeks per month. When I started the job, I was single. The last couple years in the job, I had a son. When I was only traveling a couple nights a week, it was not too bad, especially becau ..read more
