Hey Kee – Geylang
JayMoyLovesFood – I find things to eat and I eat them

Hey Kee opened up with a lot of fanfare as a great rendition of a Hong Kong Cha Chan Teng. Plenty of tanks of live seafood are on display. We went for the Lobster Special, and the Lobster was pretty small, but the taste was good. Lamb Claypot was right out of Hong Kong, and the parents enjoyed and reminisced about it. Sweet and Sour Pork was more Hong Kong style than the editions in Singapore, and the veggie was good too. It’s an interesting place, would love to try more dishes.  But what is better are all the sights and reproductions of Hong Kong scenes within the place.  Defi ..read more

Niku Kappo – Ion

Niku Kappo is a little hidden in Ion Orchard, and while it features Beef, there are more items on this good menu. The Beef is at the forefront, so we went with the Beef Hotpot to begin with. Mixed all together, it’s a good Hotpot. But then there is a Chicken Pizza. While the crust is crisp and wafer-like, the taste is pretty good. Clams in a nice Miso broth was very well done as well. The salad was also not bad. Pretty good for 3 adults and a child ..read more

Miznon – Telok Ayer

Miznon is another place I have planned to visit, and finally had a chance to go for a lunch. It features Israeli food, but with some modern twists. Miznon’s lunch menu features a lot of Pita Pocket sandwiches, for lack of a better term. Stuffed inside are some great ingredients and compliments. My first choice was the Lavan. This is Roasted Cauliflower with Tahini, Salsa, Chili and Spring Onion. What a great combination and a great bite. The taste of the just done Cauliflower, so it’s still crunchy, but done, mixed in with the other ingredients gives it a great taste. Next up was the ABU Keba ..read more

Trovato – Seletar Hills

Trovato is definitely out of the way in Jalan Selaseh in Seletar Hills, but the food here is pretty darn good if you can get here. Pork Pizza – Pepperoni, Sausage and Pulled Pork. A very nice pizza indeed. Carbonara – Better than most run of the mill places. Fried Oysters – A little salty. Calamari – fresh and lighter in batter. The place is good, if you can find your way there ..read more

Soi 47 Thai occupies the space in Orchard Central where the Pop-Up restaurants used to be. The menu is simple, but has all the Thai classics. Curry Crab Meat, Braised Pork Leg and Prawn Cake. It was all so good with our Lemon Soda and Thai Ice Tea. This place is legit ..read more

Legendary Hong Kong – Jurong Point

Legendary Hong Kong at Jurong Point is one of those places that just delivers the Hong Kong vibe. From the huge menu selection to the snarky waitstaff to the great food. Beef Brisket Wonton Noodles. My all-time favorite. I had one taste and I felt so at home and comforted. It just feels like home. Char Siew and Siew Yoke Rice. Also brought me back home. Noodles with Beef Brisket, Egg, Intestines and Chicken Wings in Satay Sauce. This is Hong Kong indeed. And the Dim Sum is good too. Har Gow and Zhaliang. Two of my favorites. I just wish they were not all the way in Boon Lay. They need to be ..read more

Humpback – Outram

When we moved back to Singapore from Seattle, one of the first places we went to eat was Humpback because we loved the fact that that they specifically had oysters from Washington. We went back again on Christmas Day. While the layout and interior have been revamped and revised, the food remains the same – outstanding. Our selection of Oysters – we tried three kinds – Calm Cove, Eld Inlet and Hammersly Inlet. While all three were great, we all preferred the Eld Inlet, the largest one which was sweet an fruity tasting. For a smaller light dish we went with White Asparagus over Blue Crab and W ..read more

Hopscotch – Gilman Barracks

We wanted to try something off the beaten path and Gilman Barracks is that. That is how we found ourselves at Hopscotch. The menu is definitely different. A mix of Asian Fusion dishes, but not sure how it all translates. The Nachos were pretty tasty, but pretty average at the same time. Nothing really special about it. The Swordfish Ravioli was not what we expected. We thought it would be Swordfish mince as a filling, instead it was cheese Ravioli with slices of Swordfish Sashimi. I can’t say that it was a good combination. I would not have order these two items separately and put them togethe ..read more

After seeing Tharman win the Singapore Presidential election, I had to go to Taman Jurong and ride down the escalator. And I had to get Feng Zhen Lor Mee, and the Fish Lor Mee. The review that they get are really accurate. It is a good bowl of Lor Mee. The gravy is so flavorful and outstanding. Then all the other items are very well done too. Put it all together and it is a really good bowl of Lor Mee for $5 ..read more

Milan Tei – Vivo City

Milan Tei is an alternative and competitor to Saiyeriza. Meaning low cost Italian-Japanese food for you. Margherita Pizza. Wow, this was terrible beyond belief. I thought Saiyeriza was bad. Bolognese Pasta. I would rather use Classico sauce at home. Never again for me, unless I only have a few dollars in my wallet and I am extremely hungry and everything else is closed ..read more
