The Place This is easily one of the best dining views in Singapore. I visited Riviera recently for dinner, a contemporary Mediterranean and European restaurant located at One Fullerton. The interior of Riviera is elegant where every table gets a view of Singapore’s skyline and some of the most iconic landmarks in the city such as the Merlion in close proximity, Marina Bay Sands, Esplanade, Singapore Flyer, and essentially the whole Marina Bay waterfront.   The best seats in the house are definitely the tables right beside the window.  The Food The restaurant refreshed its menu recent ..read more

The Hotel Located about a two hours’ drive inland from Muscat, Anantara Al Jabal Al Akhdar Resort is one of the highlights of my Oman trip this year. As one of the world’s highest luxury resorts at around 2,000m above sea level on the Green Mountain of Oman, you will need a four-wheel rental car to head up to the mountains to check into the hotel. I first knew about this resort after watching BBC’s Amazing Hotels: Life Beyond the Lobby and it did feel surreal to step foot into the property myself.  Upon arrival at the drive-through, the staff immediately helped to unload my luggage a ..read more

The Place Located at Claymore Connect, it was my first time to Summer Hill, a French Bistro restaurant which has been here for close to two years. Summer Hill was previously at Sunset Way in Clementi for five ways before it moved to the current Orchard location, where it takes up a gorgeous space in the mall. I love the natural light in the day and the eclectic interior, especially the tiled table and the mix of tablewares.    The Food The ala carte menu offers a good variety of homely French dishes like Mussels Normandy and Classic Roast Chicken, though I had their newly launched We ..read more

Universal Bakehouse  One of the most popular bakeries in KL, Universal Bakehouse at Damansara Kim Petaling Jaya often spots long queues in the mornings for its freshly baked bread and pastries. The interior is not huge with just one long communal table and limited counter seats by the window, so you can imagine this is a hot spot for takeaways. The bakes options are aplenty, from their Plain Croissant to Cinnamon Roll to Carrot Cake, you really cannot go wrong with any. Tea and coffee options are also available.   Address: 21, Jalan SS 20/11, Damansara Kim, 47400 Petaling Jaya, Selan ..read more

Food Review: Ingen Kyoto At Ion Orchard | Zen Japanese Teahouse Cafe With An Omakase Dining Menu

The Place Located in Ion Orchard, Ingen Kyoto is a few months old new Japanese teahouse and restaurant concept by the same team behind Hvala. It is located as basement three of Ion Orchard, where the entrance of Ingen Kyoto is the retail section, and beyond the retail space is a minimalist and zen looking teahouse vibe which made me forget I am in Singapore. There are three main dining sections – the counter seats where you get to have the most interaction with the chefs and teamasters, a long communal wooden table which is the centrepiece of the space, and also a tatami room se ..read more

The Place Newly opened in Telok Ayer Street, Shinrai (which means ‘trust’) is a contemporary casual Japanese restaurant by Chef Desmond Fong of Japanese omakase restaurant Sushi Yujo. The interior of Shinrai spots a playful vibe with neon lights inspired from the streets of Tokyo, where the table setting is ideal for small groups or couples. The dining concept here is also a fusion of sushi-izakaya dining, which serves up Japanese bites or larger plates along with drinks like sake.  The Food The menu is an array of appetizers, sushi, rolls, skewers, main courses ..read more
