Sometimes you just need to escape London and enjoy some good old English countryside for a few days… Earlier this year, with just that in mind my close friend Lily and I jumped on a train to the Cotswolds for a girls’ weekend at The Fish Hotel! Indulging my love of shepherd’s huts, we had booked a Hilly Hut for our weekend escape, and as we drew up to it, I have to admit I squealed with excitement… Especially when I saw this view… We had both been busy at work, and were so looking forward to a weekend of laughter, long country walks, delicious food and so much fun! We took a half day away f ..read more

Celebrating Hutong’s Fifth Birthday
The Lifestyle Diaries | An English Luxury Lifestyle and Travel Blog

Hutong is a restaurant that is fast becoming a place of very happy memories for me. The first time I visited, Andy and I had a really fun evening with Angie and Charles, as we watched the sunset and toasted to friendship. Then, after Andy passed his exams, a winter trip to Hutong was booked and we toasted to new beginnings! And now? Time to celebrate Hutong’s fifth birthday!  Last week, the night before all the rain, we were greeted at Hutong with smiles and a crystal clear view out over London. Happy smiles as we saw the tables we had occupied before, and looked at the beautiful wish tree t ..read more

Oh, it’s been a little quiet round here hasn’t it? Sometimes life has a habit of just running away with you, and that’s how it’s been round here for the past little while. I’m going to try and start a little monthly update, called Pages of My Lifestyle Diaries to round up all the little things that go past in a month (or longer as the case may be!) Ok maybe long while. But still, you get me. I’m still going to be tapping away and writing up all my recent adventures, some of my favourite recent meals in London, but I thought I’d give  you a whirlwind tour of everything… Travel Summer officiall ..read more

CUTCakes & Tea: Afternoon Tea at 45 Park Lane
The Lifestyle Diaries | An English Luxury Lifestyle and Travel Blog

Afternoon tea is well known as a London institution, a little indulgence to treat yourself and some friends to – especially with a glass of champagne! But with so many options in London for afternoon tea, it can be a little tricky to find one that is that little bit extra special (or some might even say a cut above the rest…) or even just a little bit different. The new 45 Park Lane afternoon tea manages both – their CUTCakes & Tea was one of the most fun and delicious teas I’ve tried in a while – and it doubles as a beautiful place to cool down in all this heat! Though I’ve been lucky en ..read more

Weekends from London: A Two Day Itinerary for Bruges
The Lifestyle Diaries | An English Luxury Lifestyle and Travel Blog

When we booked our weekend in Bruges, it was about ten days before we were meant to go. Which for me, is entirely unheard of! So our itinerary wasn’t nearly as planned as I would normally choose… But after a weekend wandering around beautiful Bruges, here is our two day itinerary for Bruges!  Where to Stay I’d had my eye on Hotel de Tuilerieen as the place I’d like to stay in Bruges for a while, and when they had rooms available for our weekend away, it didn’t take my long to book! I booked a gorgeous Royal Executive Room, which was full of character and situated in the historic wing of the h ..read more

Return to Wriggly Tins: A Weekend In Hampshire
The Lifestyle Diaries | An English Luxury Lifestyle and Travel Blog

This year, instead of booking a lovely dinner in London, we decided to do something a little different.  We had stayed at Wriggly Tins almost two years ago, and always said we would return… So when it came to choosing somewhere to visit for our anniversary weekend it was an ideal place to return! Fast forward a month or so, and fast forward through the snow that no one really expected, and we were on the train to Wriggly Tins, eager for our return. This time, we had booked Barrow, the brightest shepherd’s hut of them all. Barrow is the cheeriest of all huts, with its friendly, welcoming and v ..read more

Weeknight Treats at Cinnamon Kitchen Battersea
The Lifestyle Diaries | An English Luxury Lifestyle and Travel Blog

Living in South London, whenever something new opens I’m usually one of the first to be excited about it.  So with the redevelopment of Battersea Power Station meaning that many new restaurants are opening, I was more than a little excited to see it! When I heard that Vivek Singh had opened a new Cinnamon Kitchen Battersea, Andy and I were really looking forward to visiting. Fast forward to one weeknight evening (a new found pleasure!) and I wandered into the new development, enjoying the last of the early spring evening light, admiring the new hair salons, restaurants and watching people empt ..read more

Birthday Celebrations at Sorella Clapham
The Lifestyle Diaries | An English Luxury Lifestyle and Travel Blog

Waking up on my birthday looked a little something like this… Champagne for breakfast, pastries from the local patisserie and a newspaper in bed. Happy birthday to me! Every year I vary as to whether I want to do something big or just a small celebration for my birthday, and this year I opted for a small lunch with friends. Unusually, I was a little late in organising…anything… But I knew exactly where I wanted to go, Sorella, the latest restaurant from Robin Gill, who also owns The Dairy.   Once I had fully indulged in champagne and breakfast at home, we walked across Clapham Common to Sorel ..read more

A Weekend of Eternal Sundays at The Pig on The Beach
The Lifestyle Diaries | An English Luxury Lifestyle and Travel Blog

That Sunday feeling: the feeling of being totally relaxed, having nowhere to go and nothing pressing that needs done. That sense of calm. I thought it was a feeling reserved purely for Sundays, but it turns out, that you also find the same feeling at The Pig Hotel (part of Mr & Mrs Smith Hotels), specifically at The Pig on the Beach, as I discovered when Angie and I visited for a weekend last month. Angie and I have been lucky enough to have some amazing experiences together, like brunch on board the Belmond British Pullman, but we were excited to tick off a Weekends From London adventure ..read more

Fish Kitchen Comes to Outlaw’s At The Capital
The Lifestyle Diaries | An English Luxury Lifestyle and Travel Blog

Tucked away in Knightsbridge, a short shopping-laden wander away from Harrods, live The Capital Hotel, a member of Small Luxury Hotels. The Capital Hotel, as well as being a boutique hotel, is also home to Outlaw’s at The Capital, a Michelin star restaurant serving impeccably cooked British seafood. But Outlaw’s at the Capital isn’t the only jewel in Nathan’s crown: with a two Michelin Star restaurant, Restaurant Nathan Outlaw, and one Michelin-starred Fish Kitchen both in Cornwall, it’s little wonder that I jumped at the chance to visit Fish Kitchen – and to meet Nathan himself – a couple of ..read more
