So it's a new year and as usual, I'm thinking of how I can make this the best year yet. If you're like me, you spent your holidays eating, drinking and being merry. It's one of my favorite times of the year! We deserve to indulge over the holidays while enjoying the company of our families and friends but it's all about balance. For me, it's time to get back into my regular routine of eating well and taking care of myself.
Self-care is high on my list of priorities these days. If I don't take care of me, I will not be in any shape to take care of my family! This is what I'm doing:

If you are anything like me, you had a great long weekend of indulgences. The drinks were flowing, and the treats were abundant. Sugar, salt, fat. It was all a part of the fun!
Unless I want to pack on all the pounds I worked so hard to lose, it's time to clean up! The first thing I did was go through all the cupboards and I threw away all of the junk. I had to! If I didn't, I would eat it, I know I would! So all of the remaining chips are now in the trash.
The next think I did was make a big batch of veggie soup and wash all of my salad veggies. My plan this week is to fill my day with as ma ..read more

I love yoga so much. Like, really love it. I do it every day! I must! It is part of my daily routine and if I don't get it in, I notice. The benefits of yoga are undeniable. I feel them all around me! I originally started practicing yoga because I had some weird inflammation in my foot called sesamoiditis. I started to practice yoga and within 2 months, the inflammation went away! I've been hooked ever since. Here are some of the other reasons I love to practice.
Yoga is great exercise! I can feel my entire body changing and getting stronger every day. I am more stabilized, more balanced, mor ..read more

Today is Sunday and it's snowing outside. I really like to focus on self-care on Sundays and a snow day is an even better excuse to stay in and really take care of myself. It's a day where I can stay in my comfy clothes all day and keep my little guy in his jammies. My husband is away for work so it's just the two of us here. Hooray for quality time with my little bubs!
A day in doesn't mean a lazy day on the couch snuggling. Not for this family. I wish my kid would sit for longer than a few minutes at a time! He is more of the adventurous type and is constantly exploring the house. It's all ..read more

The struggle is real. I have bills. I have obligations. I have no job. I'm a stay at home mom to an amazing boy. My husband is now the sole provider of our family. I feel so incredibly lucky to have him in my life supporting our family but I also feel so strange not being able to contribute financially.
It wasn't always this way. When it was just the two of us, we both worked full-time and made decent money. We both contributed to our bills and leisurely activities as a team. When I went on maternity leave after my son was born, I started to contribute less. After my year of maternity leave ..read more

Today was day 1 of my yoga teacher training and I feel so inspired! The other students I am on this journey with are incredible. Everyone has such powerful stories and very different reasons for wanting to do the training. I feel so blessed to meet all these wonderful people and share this journey with them. I feel fully supported and open to everything this training will bring. At the start of the training, I wasn't feeling so inspired. I felt anxious and nervous about what was to come.
Anxiety is something I have dealt with for a lot of my life. Sometimes it can even be crippling. An anxiet ..read more

Who am I? It's a legit question. I am currently on a conscious journey to answer this question. With the world in a social media haze setting unrealistic standards for us all, it's so easy to get lost in it and forget who we really are. I know I'm guilty of losing sight of myself sometimes. We feel like we need to prove ourselves to our peers, to ourselves, to complete strangers, to the world. Always trying to improve ourselves. Lose weight, put on makeup, wear brand named clothing, be the best. It's good to have goals and it's good to have something to strive for, but are we focusing on the ..read more

You know the saying, "Trust your gut instinct". It is a very common saying and it's well known because it's so true! I worked my first shift at a restaurant yesterday and when I left at the end of my day, I could feel it in my body that it was not the right place for me. I felt it so strongly that I actually had to stop myself from crying! Our gut tells us when we need to distance ourselves from someone, when to quit a job, or to take a new opportunity. Our souls will always guide us in the direction that we are supposed to go by activating our intuition.
When you ignore your intuition or pas ..read more

I've been dealing with some personal struggles in the past month. I've been quiet on my blog about it because that is just how I deal with life. I have to process it in my head before talking about things. Especially publicly on my blog.
A best friend and co-worker of mine passed away. My heart was broken. A beautiful life taken away too soon and so suddenly. It hit me like a bag of bricks.
I'd just seen him the week before. He visited me in Ottawa and we had the most incredible visit. We were able to talk about our lives and really catch up. We had some things we needed to hash out from the ..read more
