Profoto asked us earlier this year if we wanted to be part of a new secret launch of some new products, which we instantly said yes to. The products were the new softboxes which were designed to fit Profoto’s larger lights. In our case, those are the B10X series lights that we use in the studio all the time. But now with the new 1×4 grid, 2×3 and the 3-foot octa, the modifiers open up instantly and make using the larger lights so much faster and easier outside the studio as well. When we travel, we’ve been bringing the smaller A2s because of their Clic modifiers. But now with the updated softb ..read more

Montana Wedding: Off the Grid

The groom’s wedding-day shower was him lying down in an ice-cold river with his clothes on. Half of the 200 wedding guests camped in tents and RVs. Bathroom locations were listed as “one of the outhouses or just pee in the woods.” Shoes were definitely optional. And there were a couple of wedding guests with bathing suits on under their party clothes. Because, well, it’s good to be prepared for anything. This is off-the-grid Montana, where electricity comes from solar panels and generators. Where you spend most of the day hiking and cooling off in the river. Where Matt’s mother has built her d ..read more

We are Charleston wedding photographers who have been photographing weddings around the world since 2005. Kate and Ian brought us out to Sonoma County, in Jenner, California, for their wedding at Timber Cover Resort. They chose Timber Cove Resort for many reasons. However, mainly they wanted a resort where they could do a full buyout, to make the event completely private and also to give their guests a weekend getaway. Most of Ian and Kate’s guests work in tech in Silicon Valley and San Francisco. Timber Cove Resort provides the perfect vacation for Bay Area residents without having to go too ..read more

As spring approaches, families begin planning their high-school senior portrait sessions in Charleston. The weather is warming up, and seniors are in the middle of their last semester of high school. If you’re the one graduating, you’re probably feeling excited for the future and also a little sad to say goodbye to your high-school life and all the friends you’ve made. If you’re the parents of a graduating senior, the emotions are all over the place! You’re so proud of the young adult you’ve helped mold, but you also can’t look at them without seeing the newborn baby, the toddler, the first-gr ..read more

How it all began… Email from Maria, April 8, 2010: “I was searching the internet for images of things that I loved, to remind me of what it really was. Specifically, I searched Santa Fe, NM, where I grew up; I love Santa Fe…its beauty, its people, the way I remember feeling when I was there. While searching random pictures of Santa Fe, I came across a picture of two people in love, people who captured how I wanted to feel, there in my native hometown. I clicked on the picture, then clicked on the link to the website. This couple was photographed in front of Adelo’s store in Pecos, NM; I ..read more

Fall Family Photos in Charleston

Fall family photos in Charleston look very different from Fall family photos in other places. For one, it’s usually still pretty hot, the grass is still green, and there are no falling, colorful leaves. But that’s OK! Having your Fall family photos done in Charleston means you can still do photos on the beach without bundling up. You can walk around downtown comfortably without layers but also without sweating. It’s still hot, but it’s not summer hot. For us locals, we think it’s just right. We’ve been photographers for 20 years, and photographers in Charleston for eight of those. We know wher ..read more

Want to be an actor in Charleston? The opportunities now are better than they’ve ever been. To get started, you’ll need a series of actor headshots. Professional actor headshots are necessary for talent agents and casting directors as they choose actors to fill specific roles in film and television. Charleston has long been a sought-after filming location for projects featuring the South (“The Patriot,” “The Notebook”). But recent popular shows such as Netflix’s “Outer Banks” and HBO’s “The Righteous Gemstones” have put Charleston on the map in a huge way. The escalating number of film project ..read more

This small, intimate mountain wedding was stripped down to what matters – love and family. There was no coordinator. The bride did her own hair and makeup, as well as the flowers. The wedding dinner was made by their friend Trey, who is a professional chef. The bride and groom’s children, along with their nieces and nephews, made up half the guest list, which was immediate family only. Crimens and Stephen, who live in Jackson, Mississippi, wanted exactly this. They wanted to be with the people closest to them. They wanted to be on their own schedule, with plenty of time to hang out with their ..read more

CA and CA: Not the Same, but Close Enough There is no question the universe was intent on getting these two together. They met basically by accident. When Ana was searching a dating app, and specified “CA” as her search zone, she was looking for eligible men in California. Sundeep’s photo came up and she excitedly swiped right, feeling an instant connection. As they began talking online, she casually asked about the weather one day. “Cold!” Sunny replied. Ana was confused. Cold in California? They then discovered, in what must have been a bug at the time, that the app they were using was ..read more

You never know what it will be that makes a bride or groom emotional on their wedding day. Often, it’s not what they expect. For Olivia, it happened when her planner and designer invited her into the ceremony area to see the chuppah design for her Miami Beach wedding at the New World Center. Her hands immediately went to her heart, and she said, “I love it so much! I’m actually getting emotional.” I could tell it surprised her, the feelings that came up upon seeing the place where she would marry Aaron, in just a few moments. Traditional Jewish Wedding Jewish wedding traditions are some of the ..read more
