Petty crime escalates amid cost of living crisis

More Australians are resorting to theft as they struggle with the rising cost of living, according to new research by comparison site Finder. A Finder survey of 1,096 respondents revealed one in seven – equivalent to 3 million Australians – have admitted to stealing or fraud in the past 12 months as they reach their financial breaking point. Discount or mere attention-grabber? That is the question… New nationally representative data from consumer group CHOICE has revealed on average one in four people find it difficult to identify if certain supermarket labels represent a true discount or not. Clorox Australia, the manufacturer of Glad-branded kitchen and garbage bags, is in court for allegedly making false or misleading representations. Woolworths New Zealand is introducing team safety cameras to all of its 191 stores this week. This follows positive feedback from team members who have been involved in a 17-store trial of the safety initiative. Team members said the cameras help de-escalate conflict situations as they arise and help them feel safer as they work.
