I am trying to use private keys, addresses, and public addresses I generated myself. (for educational purpose). I am working with bitcoin-cli by inserting the inputs I've generated myself. (in CMD) the following code: C:\Program Files\Bitcoin\daemon>bitcoin-cli -regtest -named -rpcwallet="legacy" importmulti "[{\"scriptPubKey\":{\"address\":\"<my P2PKH address>\"},\"timestamp\":\"now\",\"pubkeys\":[\"<my compressed public address in hex format>\"],\"keys\":[\"<my private key in WIF format>\"]}]" "{\"rescan\":false}" returns this output: [ { "success": true, "w ..read more

My node is busy with a -reindex. In the debug.log file I see lines like the following: Reindexing block file blk02620.dat... Loaded 438 blocks from external file in 7133ms This seems normal, however, there are a lot of lines like this: Reindexing block file blk02775.dat... Loaded 0 blocks from external file in 714ms I checked the file size of blk02775.dat and it is 128M like all the other *.dat files. How can it be that the file contains zero blocks ..read more

How can I sign custom tapscript leaf using bitcoind `walletprocesspsbt` rpc endpoint?

I have taproot output which can be spend through 3 different script paths. In general all of those script paths are some kind of multisig. In my wallet I have key which is part of those multi-sigs. The key was created by using getnewaddress and then getaddressinfo rpc endpoints. Now I want to create signature for one of those spending paths by using walletprocesspsbt endpoint. My current status is that I am able to do that for simple scripts. For example, if my script path has script in form: <key1> OP_CHECKSIGVERIFY <key2> OP_CHECKSIG Where key1 is controlled by my wallet, I am ..read more

First i am creating this post to benefit all of you who are really into understanding and building your own miner from the scratch. There is so many materials but rarely have anything in common. I need help validating if the order of matters is correct in my Block header for mining. I am building my own miner as a challenge and still struggle with the proper formats. There are many examples on the web but really even the pool doesn't state in which order the data is being sent out for the clients. So just for an absolute clarity i thought we could have a definitive answer on the question here ..read more

Do the FCA rules on Financial Promotion for cryptoassets prohibit me buying Bitcoin?

I am a small retail buyer/holder of Bitcoin. In June 2023 the FCA released this Policy Statement https://www.fca.org.uk/publication/policy/ps23-6.pdf My question relates to the 'client categorisation requirements'. Recently, on a platform I use to buy crypto, I had to answer some questions so that they could categorise me (according to the above-mentioned policy it would appear) as either a 'High Net Worth Investor' OR a 'Restricted Investor'. From what I understand: A High Net Worth Investor earns £100,000 or more per year, or has net assets worth £250,000 or more. A Restricted Investor has l ..read more
