Port Houston awarded $26.9 million to reduce air pollution by trucks

The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Highway Administration announced that Texas was awarded a $26.9 million grant for the Port Houston new clean truck program to help reduce air emissions. U.S. Customs and Border Protection announced recently the Poker Creek Port of Entry will re-open for the summer 2024 season. The port of entry is scheduled to open on May 17, and will close on Sept. 15. The opening and closing dates are predicated on weather allowing access, and the dates may be modified with short notice. Travelers seeking to enter through the port of entry during those dates should plan accordingly, according to the CBP. 350,000 lb. load falls off trailer, lands on vehicle killing two people

Two people were killed and one was seriously injured over the weekend when an oversized load fell off its trailer and landed on another vehicle. Saturday morning at 11:20am, Temple Fire and Rescue responded to the report of a motor vehicle collision on State Highway 36, just west of Highway 317. Upon arrival crews found an oversized load had come off of its trailer, pinning a vehicle beneath, accoring to a social media post by the department. First loaded inbound commercial vessel enters Port of Baltimore

The return to normal life at the Port of Baltimore took a step in the right direction Thursday, April 25. The container/feeder barge Columbia Freedom, was the first inbound commercial vessel through the recently opened Limited Access Channel (LAC), according to the Baltimore District of the Army Corps of Engineers. The LAC, which has a controlling depth of at least 35 feet, a horizontal clearance of 300 feet, and a vertical clearance of 214 feet, is expected to provide passage for a limited number of commercial vessels into the port and a departure opportunity for some deep draft vessels ..read more
