BIM360 and publish settings question

Hello, I'm just wondering if anyone knows whether or not the publish settings affect what is included in a model for downloading. If I have my structural model hosted on bim360 and only have the floorplans/levels and 3d views selected for the models publishing will the sheets and views that aren't selected be included if the architect decides to download a copy of the model from bim360 ..read more

Parametric Storey-related levels
Revit Forum

Hi! I am coming from the Vectorworks environment, and there is something there that I miss in Revit (not many things though) In VW there are Storeys, and they are defined with a height relative to the 0.00 level of the model/project. Than each storey has "reference levels" that are defined with a relative height to the corresponding storey. That makes it incredibly easy to define families in relation to these relative heights, as the heights can have a coherent name across storeys... You place a wall Type-A in the ground level and it will bind itself to the defined heights. You place a Type-A ..read more

Parallel-syncronized models

Hello everyone, I am interested if anyone has experience with developing and managing two parallel models that are connected (my idea is monitoring/copy)? My objective is to create: 1. internal model with height detail of families - curtain wall panels, prepared for manufacturing LOD400. 2. external model low detail of families - curtain wall panels, prepared for collaboration with other parties, LOD200. With this solution, I believe I can solve this problem by providing external model open to add information accoring to each clients request, while the internal models can be prepared in det ..read more

What is considered a "large" file size for Revit families?
Revit Forum

I'm in a debate at my company about file size while building a new template. I have built several door families (10, to be exact) that weigh in at roughly 3mb each. Some folks on our BIM team insist that we shouldn't add these to our template (along with various other content) in an effort to keep the file size down. They want me to remake the families to be much simpler without swappable panel types/throat offset functionality, which is a huge downgrade in usability and flexibility of these families. Keep in mind, this template is basically empty at the moment with no content other than annot ..read more

DELETE Families

Hi all, I was wondering if anyone knew how to delete unnecessary families? Purge isn't what I want to use as they are families I generally use. It's the extra ones like Cable Trays, Conduits, Duct Systems etc. Right clicking also doesn't give me the option to delete. I'm just wanting to reduce file size. Thanks ..read more

Would it be okay to edit copy/monitored elements?

Would it be okay to edit copy/monitored elements from the consultants linked models? It's just that their families need some work and I want them to look better on our drawings, especially when it comes to the visibility settings of the family's models and symbols. I'm also curious if copy/monitored elements show up on BIM360? And would they be detected as clashes? Thank you ..read more

How do I avoid overlapping symbols from other linked models?
Revit Forum

I'm working for an interior design firm and my head always aches whenever the project management team wants us to fix our power and auxiliary plan because the symbols from the consultants are overlapping. What would be the best way to make the layout neat? Can't post images at the moment, but what I mean is how do I make this "<<3" into this "<3<3"? What I'm doing at the moment is to just hide the consultants family, copy it, then paste it as a placeholder with another workset. Or basically hide it, make a similar looking detail line group, then overlay. Any solutions ..read more
