 History of the Pentagon The Pentagon is the headquarters of the United States Department of Defense.  Located in Arlington, Virginia it sits on 34 acres of land including the five acre center court. Construction began on September 11, 1941 and was completed on January 15, 1943. The sender writes: Greetings from inside the Pentagon!  Some of the highlights of today were  seeing the 9/11 memorial chapel, the chiefs of staff offices and standing inside one of the offices that took a direct hit on 9/11 and was re-built.  What an amazing experience it was!
