Far Away but Still So Near

My exchange is nearing completion. I still have an exam week and then I can return to Finland. I study international economics here at a school called HTW Berlin. Time has passed here really fast and I will miss this city and my little apartment here. I wish I could stay here for a little longer but given the current Corona situation here I have decided to deport back to Finland as soon as the exam period is over.   It was really nice to start school with contact teaching instead of distance learning, which I had already become accustomed to. At the moment, however, the lectures are onli ..read more

Mit besten Grüßen aus Stuttgart!
Far Away but Still So Near

Hallo! My studies here in Stuttgart are reaching the finish line. It’s been memorable and leaving home feels surreal. I have many memories from amazing places, but mostly I will miss all my new international friends, who made my time here the way it was at the end. Together we visited one of the local restaurants usually several times a week and became friends with the frequent customers there. Studying in Stuttgart helped to gain back my motivation to study. Half of the semester was fully on-campus teaching. It felt refreshing after studying the last 1,5 years before Germany 100% online. Mi ..read more

Wels stole my heart
Far Away but Still So Near

Greetings from Wels, small city in Upper Austria! Studying and living here has been absolutely one of my best decisions in my whole life. I learned so much about myself, other people and their cultures, made so many new friends and challenged myself by going out of my comfort zone. Studying in FH Upper Austria differs from TAMK on so many levels, but still you can find many similarities. The courses are either held in “block” or in traditional way. Block course means that you have for example labs from Monday till Friday 8 hours per day and then your course is completed. I actually enjoyed thi ..read more

My semester in Flanders is about to come to an end. I studied engineering in Katholieke Hogeschool VIVES . At TAMK I study electrical building services, in VIVES I studied a happy mix of different engineering courses. I had some ecotechnology engineering courses, an automation project, a project about emerging technologies, a course about global sustainability, and business English. There was a big difference between engineering courses and the humanitarian courses. I lived in a small city called Kortrijk. It is located in Flanders, half an hour from the French border. The campus of our univer ..read more

Historical city of Vic
Far Away but Still So Near

My experience is better than I expected. When applying to the Central University of Catalonia in Spain I thought that the city of Vic would be a bit too small for me. However, the size of the city allowed me to experience my exchange in the best way possible! I could meet my groupmates in minutes and sometimes I would live so close to my friends, that we went to have dinner to each other’s places few times a week. My studies were sometimes challenging but I learned to work in design applications and went out of my comfort zone with the courses I chose. The availability of the courses was perfe ..read more

Where do I even begin… I study music production and technologies here as well as in TAMK. Transition was pretty smooth, though at TAMK we have in a much more technical way, here we have more discussions, philosophical, experimental, more laid back approach (as you would expect, maybe :). There is much more emphasis placed on traditional musical education, my course is almost border lining with composition department as well, but not quite. But I love that honestly. The school itself is beyond amazing. It’s pretty much small Hogwarts for musicians. The teachers are insanely amazing, both profes ..read more

For a person, who has grown up in a sunny and warm weather with a dense population, I found Finland is very calm and relaxed country. I moved to Finland six years ago. About 5,5 millions people living in Finland. Finns are quiet, friendly, and shy. People there respect each other and appreciate other’s privacies, and rights. In Finland, there is a meaningful support and freedom, which help you to achieve your dream successfully.  There are actual four seasons; starting from the winter, where the snow is covering the country with beautiful views and interesting entertainments including sau ..read more

I have been since beginning of March in Leipzig, in Germany doing my exchange year. I am studying violin studies here in Hochschule für Musik und Theater “Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy“ Leipzig. I think that German people like long and formal names! The school here it is the oldest music conservatoire in Germany, established in 1843 by the composer Felix Mendelssohn-Bartholdy. It is well-known about its history and also very international. However, I am studying here only “auf Deutsch”, in German. I have many very interesting courses here and I have studied a lot. I have violin lessons, chamber ..read more

The past 5 and a half months have gone by so fast. I arrived here on the 1st of August and started my exchange experience with a mandatory quarantine. It was an interesting experience to be stuck inside a small dorm room for two weeks. After the quarantine I had around two weeks to explore my new city until the start of the semester. I am studying in Sungkyunkwan University in Seoul and my major is Business Administration. During the fall semester I had 5 courses; 3 of them were business and economics courses and then I also had a Basic Korean course and Contemporary Korean Society and Culture ..read more
