I (A teenager living in Japan as of now) started to collect coins when I was young, but I didn't really collect coins too seriously, and mostly collected stuff like wheat cents, and nothing much. I recently moved to Japan, and I (kind of) started to take coin collecting seriously. This is what I got from the antique stores in the area. Total price: 9680 JPY submitted by /u/Intelcore2quad [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Green/red flags to look for in a new coin shop for novices?

I've never really shopped at a coin store before and they're sort of intimidating. Seems like you need to know what's what and even then, you run a risk of getting ripped off. I don't mind paying some premium or whatever but don't want to fall for anything egregious, too. Any common green or red flags I can look for to tell if a coin shop is more likely to be trust worthy or not? Maybe like a certain item that should generally be a certain price at most shops? submitted by /u/DevIsSoHard [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
