OSCAR's PBTC (Ongoing, Support, Care and Research into Paediatric Brain Tumours Charity) was formed in the summer of 2014. The Charity was formed by the parents and friends of Oscar Hughes, a 9 year old boy who died of a Medulloblastoma (a brain tumour) on the 3rd of May 2014.

A brave 22-year-old from York has been given one year to live after being diagnosed with a brain tumour and is dedicating that time to helping others.
Personal trainer Cain North has stage four malignant glioblastoma – an aggressive, fast-growing brain tumour.
He has vowed to use his remaining time alive to help others with brain tumours by raising money for York-based OSCAR’s Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity.

A charity working to help others in memory of a York schoolboy who died from a brain tumour is to celebrate its 10th year.
OSCAR’s Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity was launched in memory of Oscar Hughes from Dunnington who died aged nine in 2014.
Oscar’s parents Marie and Ian Hughes set up the charity later that year.
The charity said 2023 was a “record breaking year” – raising more money and reaching more people than ever before, including supporting over 50 children.

A charity working to help others in memory of a York schoolboy who died from a brain tumour is to celebrate its 10th year.
OSCAR’s Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity was launched in memory of Oscar Hughes from Dunnington who died aged nine in 2014.
Oscar’s parents Marie and Ian Hughes set up the charity later that year.
In 2020, Ian also died of a brain tumour and a few days after Ian’s funeral his son, four-year-old Milo, was diagnosed with the same disease and died a year later.

A York youngster who has raised huge amounts of money for the charity set up in memory of his brother has been recognised with a Community Pride Award.
Lucas Hughes has been named Spirit of Youth, sponsored by YO1 Radio.
The teenager raised £24,500 for OSCAR’s Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity by climbing Yorkshire’s three peaks.
During the climb, Lucas and the team of around 65 fundraisers battled high wind and rain to complete the gruelling 25-mile route.
“It was crazy,” said Lucas.

A celebrity football match in York has raised thousands for charity.
The game brought well known faces such as England’s Lionesses legend Jill Scott, comedian Maisie Adam, YouTube and TikTok star Cal the Dragon and former Love Islanders Tom Clare and Casey O’Gorman to the LNER Community Stadium yesterday (Sunday, September 24).
The event was organised to raise funds for OSCAR’s Paediatric Brain Tumour Charity and The Bradley Lowery Foundation.

A sporting star has joined the line up at a celebrity football match in York.
Former Lioness and I’m A Celebrity Queen of The Jungle Jill Scott MBE is to join players at the LNER Community Stadium on Sunday (September 24).
The match kicks off at 3pm, with doors opening at 1.30pm. Spectators will get a chance to rub shoulders with the players before and after the game, as well as grab selfies and autographs.

Today it is ten years ago since Oscar celebrated his last birthday.
I have just spent an hour looking at that sentence and crying. I needed a good cry. Life is going fast at the moment and I haven’t given myself time to sit down and just miss my boys. My body is in a constant state of tension and nothing I do makes it relax – so the last resort is crying.
