People with valuable collections, what will happen when you're gone?

Are you organized enough to make it easy for those you leave behind? Do they even know what's it's worth? Do you care? I hate the idea that all the special things I've collected over the years could be thrown or given away. My kids don't have to pick up the hobby, but it would be nice if they at least got some money back, and if my treasures would make it to someone that appreciates them, so that they're not lost for the next generations. Do I just leave a note to bring it all to an auction house that I selected? submitted by /u/ChoosenUserName4 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Looking for penpal who likes stamps, pens, and paper ephemera

I'm not a stamp collector but I have lots of older stamps and looking for others who like to post letters with older stamps - got to use them up somehow since they're really only worth face value. Not looking for long discussions of poetry, politics, or family - just interesting tidbits about stamps, stamp and mail history, postcards, etc. Mostly this is just an excuse to use my fountain pens and check out some of the random unused stamps I've picked up over the years as I stick them to envelopes. submitted by /u/penhand1 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
