Went looking for some more stamps that are UV and found this. 1998 Russian stamps.
I’ve never seen anything this odd/interesting/(disturbing?) on a stamp UV or otherwise.
Convince me that isn’t a skull wearing a crown, please lol

If anyone can read old German handwriting, a translation of the writing in the second photo would be appreciated.

Looked thru some more (not completely) and just wanted to share. Any good insights as to UV stamp info? Still figuring out how to best capture UV images with what I have available.

Nothing special, just thought I would share what some of the UV looks like to those who may not have a UV light.

I'm 62. I remember as a kid, buying sheets of stamps, when first class was 10c, expecting them to appreciate. And then using several of them on a single envelope when I realized they didn't appreciate. And went to shows seeing people selling sheets below face.
I've joked with my wife how I wish they had forever stamps when I was buying those sheets.
But now, looking on ebay, I see people selling sheets of forever stamps at below 'face'.
Like this:

5 sheets, each with 20 stamps at 68c = $68.
Even when they were new (49c?), that's $49.
Would you think these ..read more

So, a friend sent me this souvenir stamp sheet. I saw online that the main stamp (just beside the little round flag) has a white line in the picture as it is here. I don't know why. It seems a bit awkward to me.
At first I thought it's a misprint (let's take a moment for sorrow) & then searched on Colnect. And I saw it is as it is. All of these has it.
Can anyone clarify my doubt?

Hey all,
I am a novelist and short story writer, and I am currently writing a story about an identity thief in the 1960s. I wanted to have the character send letters impersonating the people he’s killed, but use stamps and date stamps to make the letters look like they were sent from a different location. As an example, he’d send a letter from Nebraska but it would like like it was sent from Indiana. Here are some questions I have about the stamps, if anyone here knows any answers:
Can you use an Indiana postage stamp in Nebraska without raising any questions? If so, then the only thing I’d ..read more
