Sometimes I like to prepare recipes with my daughters even just to tell them about my memories of when I lived in Italy with my parents as a girl. The preparation of these whipped shortcrust biscuits took me back in time, when my parents used to buy a tray full of them on Sundays morning at the best, and most fragrant, pastry shop in our town. Every year since she learned to speak, my daughter Camilla has commissioned a “torta di compleanno” (birthday cake) from me. When she was little, marshmallows and colorful sprinkles for cake decoration were a must, as were drawings of the trendiest cartoon characters of the moment.
