Hello,
New to machining and struggling with a chamfer on a design. Dimensions in mm as the stepcraft can only handle mm.
I'm machining a test piece on Al 2024-T3 0.090" sheet metal to the below design. I'm having trouble with getting the chamfer right. Using Fusion. I've tried the following Ops and setup:
* T1-3mm single flute endmill, T2-2mm Ball nose, T3-4mm Ball nose
* Stock is a 0.090" sheet
1/ T1, Bore the holes out
2/ T1, Adaptive clear
3/ T2 or T3, Scallop for the chamfer with a 0.1mm stepover
4/ T1, 2D contour cut out the outline
For Op 3, I've tried various configurations with T2 and ..read more

4mm carbide endmill broken while I was doing circular interpolation (bore in Fusion) the material is Stainless steel 304. The hole was for M5 thread but now since it’s messed up, I will go for M6 with 5.3 drill hole. Im thinking about slowy jog pecking with another sacrificial 4mm carbide. Or 5mm? Will that work? Thanks.

Probably none of this is news for people who work in a CNC shop, but I enjoyed Wymwood's walk though of their wood working shop. The hydraulic tool chuck was news to me ( as a non-pro). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9157Z41kdYE

Before machining your part, what are some steps and or thought process on how you’ll complete it? Do some of you have a step by step of is it on the fly?

Mach 4 Help.
Complete noob here. Just bought a secondhand CNC and running into to issues. I had to do a ton of learning and diagnostic at first to even get it running. I bought it as “non-working”. It was just the ESS wasn’t communicating properly. It ran for a while and now it’s not doing so hot. See the log report and I’m assuming all of that is not good. It currently stutters pretty bad.

I’m sure I’m missing information. I’ve never quite figure out the spindle contr ..read more

I'm looking for a program for CNC machines that will design cabinets when given the specifications. I don't even know if this exists I'm just doing some research trying to help some people.
Hopefully you all can give me a place to start or look.

Hi I had gotten a bad plasma cutter. The CNC connection port would randomly trigger the plasma cutter on and off. I sent it back and got a new one. This one doesn't have port issues but the cuts are terrible. Is this a problem with the plasma cutter or is it something that can be tuned. The picture with multiple lines is the new plasma cutter. I tried different amps. Travel speed and air but all look squiggly to me. The other 2 pictures are of the old plasma I returned. I have not find tuned this as I just built it and have been doing lots of cuts to setup height and speed. I think I have tha ..read more
