Hi, I'm looking for LMS and I tested a few like open edX, wordpress plugins and some mananged ones. I want to have a focus on multiple choice questions and quizzes but the students should be able to easily reset all progress. For most of the offerings I tried the answers are fixed, like in an exam. But I'd like to have a question bank for the purpose of repetitive learning. Something like an Anki deck, but not as an actual Anki download but hosted via the LMS. I was hoping open edX has that, but there it can only be reset by an instructor. Maybe I haven't checked all options, but can someone ..read more

About my situation: I am a SMALL business owner that provides training for correctional facility staff in the USA. I started this business in 2013, and hired a developer to create our webpage and the coding for our training. However - after all this time, it is definitely needed for us to "step up our game" in terms of how the training is delivered. Here's what my needs are: What I am looking for is: 1) a site that will give learners a certificate of completion at the end of the training (I see this is an option in some LMS, so I think that is a viable solution) 2) I do not want to have learn ..read more

Thinkific - different payment options at checkout

I created an online course on Thinkific (free plan) and also made a Stripe account and this account is successfully connected with Thinkific. Within Stripe, I selected various payment methods (Google Pay, Apple Pay, creditcard etc) and they are active and work in the Stripe payment link. However, Thinkific has its own payment link and in that link I only see the option of credit card to pay with. How can I fix this? submitted by /u/New_Somewhere686 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Any ideas on how to make PDFs more interesting?

For various reasons, our courses are mainly PDFs of case studies and slides. We have to use that format to allow for easy download and distribution in low bandwidth areas, while preventing participants from editing the data. Plus the scientists who provide the information use that as their template. Trying to figure out how to make a boring scientific course more engaging. submitted by /u/rafster929 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Has anyone used YouTube form your eLearning course? I'm trying to keep my costs low, but I don't want an unprofessional project. Any insights?

Hi all. I created an eLearning course but I need to figure out where to host my videos. It seems like Vimeo vs. YouTube are the options I have. I'm not sure if I should pay for Vimeo or not. There are already so many costs associated with this and I have no idea if I'll even sell a single sub to this thing. But I also don't want an unprofessional project. Any advice? submitted by /u/bsem2 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Has anyone ever created a course for organizations that use their own LMS AND for people who have no LMS? Could you offer some guidance?

Hi all. I am new to this, so forgive the ignorance. We need to create a course for various institutions. Some will be schools, some businesses, some just in-home private use. Some instututions will use Blackboard (or a similar in-house LMS), some have no LMS whatsoever, and some may have alternatives to Blackboard. How can we create something that can be offered to all of them? I was thinking about creating the SCORM file and uploading it to a cloud that can manage subscriptions for those with Blackboard or something similar. (I have no idea which ones offer this, but I have heard this is an ..read more

First time Reddit poster here! Whooo!!!!! New to the eLearning creation and need some wisdom & guidance. We are creating the 100 Year Manifesto Academy. And, the features I’m really seeking are: To create worksheets within the course where participants can long-form answer (not multiple choice quizzes). These answers are saved where they can reference later. There is a way for individual instructor feedback (not community sharing / feedback). Currently looking at Articulate with the course creation and LMS housing capabilities. And, worse case scenario - adding in fillable pdfs th ..read more

Is this truly helpful for learning something?

Hi all, We built a tool to make online courses more engaging and accessible, but wondering if it's truly useful or getting attention because AI chat is sexy and hyped. A problem I experienced often with online courses - which often caused me to drop out - was that come Lecture 4 I would forget something that was mentioned earlier in the course. And naturally I had no idea whether it was mentioned in Lecture 3 or Lecture 2, which meant that I had to search everything I've watched/read to first find where it is, and then re-watch that lecture and possibly surrounding context to understand it, a ..read more
