The dream of playing women’s flag football on the college level is now a reality for athletes in the Philadelphia region.
Immaculata University in Chester County hosted the Atlantic East Conference (AEC) inaugural women’s flag football championship last weekend, the first conference in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) to do so.
“Never before in the NCAA has there been women’s flag football and we are doing it,” said Jessica Huntley, AEC Commissioner. “You can’t be it if you don’t see it.”

Taylor Swift shocked her fans early Friday morning by releasing a second half of her much-anticipated album “The Tortured Poets Department.”
After the first 16 songs were made available at midnight, a countdown appeared on her website indicating something else would be coming at 2 a.m. ET.

Israel carried out a military strike in Iran early Friday morning , according to NBC News, but Iranian officials played down the impact of the attack.
The Israeli strike was limited and officials were assessing the effectiveness and the damage caused, a source familiar with the situation told NBC News.
“A lot will depend on how much damage was done inside of Iran,” former CIA Director John Brennan said on MSNBC.

An engine caught on fire inside a firehouse on Thursday evening, according to officials.
Firefighters were able to get the fire under control quickly, according to Montgomery County dispatch.
The fire happened just after 9 p.m. at the Goodwill Fire Company Station 69A on the 700 block of East High Street in Pottstown, Pennsylvania, officials said.
No word on if anyone was hurt during the fire.

A teenager is recovering in the hospital after being shot on Thursday afternoon, according to police.
The 13-year-old victim was shot one time in the right foot and taken to a nearby hospital where he is listed in stable condition, police said.
The incident happened at the intersection of East Walnut Lane and Woolston Avenue in the West Oak Lane section of North Philadelphia just after 5:30 p.m., officials said.
Police were able to secure the scene and arrest one person in connection to the shooting. No weapons have been recovered yet.

Firefighters are working to put out a fire on the boardwalk at the Jersey Shore.
Black smoke can be seen billowing out of a structure on the Atlantic City Boardwalk’s Central Pier.
Crews are on the scene on South Tennessee Avenue working to extinguish the three-alarm fire.
No injuries have been reported, according to officials.

A Taco Bell manager in Bucks County is being hailed a hero for helping a baby who had stopped breathing.
This all happened on Saturday in Richboro, Pennsylvania.

The restaurant’s manager comes running from the side door.
She helped the mother perform CPR while another worker called 911.

A Montgomery County jury has found a man accused of trying to abduct a teen girl at a mall last year guilty on all counts.
Khalilh Evans, 44, of Philadelphia is now facing jail time for false imprisonment and harassment charges for the incident that happened back in July of last year.
The incident occurred at the Willow Grove Park Mall, located on 2500 Moreland Road in Montgomery County, Abington Township police said.

The Arizona Coyotes are officially headed to Salt Lake City.
The NHL Board of Governors voted unanimously Thursday to approve a $1.2 billion sale from Alex Meruelo to Utah Jazz owners Ryan and Ashley Smith, clearing the way for the franchise’s move to Utah next season.
The deal includes a provision for Arizona to get an expansion team if a new arena is built within the next five years. The deal will be facilitated through the NHL, with $200 million going to league owners as a relocation fee.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is looking into a lead contamination issue at three East Trenton public parks.
In January, the EPA asked the city of Trenton to collect and analyze soil samples from the Sony Vereen Playground, Breunig Avenue Park and the Grant Avenue Playground.
Results from the samples showed elevated levels of lead in the soil of all three parks.
To warn park visitors of the ongoing issue, the EPA placed “lead awareness” signs at each park, urging visitors to pay attention to fenced-off areas to avoid lead exposure.
